Not sure how but I had a similar issue with my lariat. Might just have a sticky spot in it. They did The same to me, reflash and was good for 700 miles, reflash and then returned after another 1000 miles. Finally changed out the valve body and it did not return. Not sure of the why though sorry.
Do you think you could dig up the ford documentation detailing the visits and work done?
It is truly the most infuriating thing... Makes me wish I had never bought the truck. Ford is of absolutely no help in diagnosing it because "there are no codes thrown."

DM me if you don't mind.

I don’t know if I have the history file on it any longer as I am pretty sure I gave to ford when the bought it back for that as well as the sunroof issues I had. I’ll take a look in the file cab and see what I have still.

File is long gone....
Ah, thanks for looking though. This will be my third time taking it in for this problem.

For record, you also had this recur several times? And a learning strategy reset fixed it for only a month or two before it returned?

How long ago was the valve body replacement and is it still working perfectly since then?

Correct first time was around the 15,000 point and started hitting gears hard flash lasted approximately 700 miles before it was back to pre flash harshness, second flash and was hitting hard by 1000 miles. Once it was replaced the truck did not do it the rest of the time I had it which was just under 30,000 total. Got rid of it for the Raptor November 2017.

Hello, I found this forum because i have been searching for the answer to my 2017 Raptor’s hard shift into drive. I’m glad I’m not alone. Ford resets it and things are ok for about 4000 miles. They blame me though. They are saying the transmission is learning to shift hard into drive because of aggressive driving behavior. That doesnt even make sense. It shifts fine from gears 1-10. I got pretty upset with them. I use my Raptor to take my 6 and 12yr olds to school and to commute to work. Im a very cautious driver. Had my fun at the Raptor Assault School in Utah, not doing that stuff to my Raptor...Has anyone found a permanent fix for this issue yet? Has Ford admitted that it is a problem? Im concerned about it falling out of warranty and them being even less helpful.
Thank you for your time

Ford finally replaced the valve body cover in the transmission, and the problem has yet to return (4000 miles later). Previously I'd be back to square one after about 1000 miles.

Ford also told me it was because of aggressive driving... Was the first time in my life I almost yelled at an employee. My truck averages 19mpg in the city, so I am literally the furthest thing possible from being an "aggressive" driver.
