Ok, so I swapped both GPS antennas and still the same symptoms with Sync3 (the tablet GPS was OK). Also, it seems the Sync3 GPS is a little more picky about the antenna. I get a "Navigation Fault" upon startup, and then it seems to grab a GPS signal after a few seconds. Periodically, I also get a little symbol (GPS letters with a red line through it), which I'm assuming means that I've lost signal. The symbol is on the lower left corner of the Sync3 GPS screen.

The tablet GPS has no problems using either antenna.

Also ran for a bit with only the Sync3 GPS antenna plugged in (tablet antenna unplugged), and no change. Sync3 GPS is way off.

I'm thinking there is some sort of interference with the Sync3 module and all the cabling smashed up behind it. I'm going to pull everything, re-route all the cabling, and double check connections.

I appreciate the help troubleshooting.

Try this... disconnect the white connector and additional “connectors” at the top of the tablet. The ones not connecting to sync 3.

See if that fixes the nav by taking away the tablet. If the nav is still busted it’s interference being created by the T harness itself.

So I used CPU z and did confirm the specs. It’s 7.1.1 android with 2 gigs of ram and it is the rock chip that’s advertised.

But further... mine came with ROOT ACCESS.

Now that offers up some interesting possibilities.

How do you know if you have root access?
How can I check if my radio has root access?
I’m new to android. Been using Apple only.

just got caught up on the posts.
After several days of use and a couple hundred miles, my factory navigation is still having issues like a few of you are now reporting. If I drive straight for a long enough period of time the gps finds me and shows my correct location and heading, but the moment I turn left or right the nav screen shows me turning in the opposite direction and from there it is lost. Another new anomaly is that last night my fuel gauge suddenly dropped from about a quarter tank to nearly empty. While waiting in school drop off line this morning it suddenly went back to showing the correct fuel level and miles to empty. Tonight, I decided to pull the entire thing apart and inspect all the connectors and pins. I could not find any bent or unseated pins and all the connectors appeared fully seated. Upon reassembly the fuel gauge is once again on empty and the factory nav is still jacked up. I am guessing a problem with the wiring harness or the CAN Bus box. I unfortunately have already buttoned everything up before reading the posts from yesterday and today or I would have tried removing the tablet GPS antenna completely to see if made a difference.

OK.

Tried disconnecting everything at the top of the tablet, which consisted of the tablet GPS antenna (1), small white connector (2), and large white connector (3). I think I needed the last connector (4) plugged in, which I believe is the video pass through from Sync3 to the tablet. After unplugging those items (1,2,3), the tablet didn't power up, so I can't see Sync3.

I attached only the large white connector (3), and that powered up the tablet. Drove for about 7 miles (15 mins), but the results were the same. No change. Not sure what the small white plug (2) does.

Guy how much data have you been using on that Harlan with day to day usage? I bailed on the T-mobile version of that since it was only 2 gigs and I could easily see myself going over that. Tethering to the phone has been a bit annoying though, probably works 75% of the time, the other 25% I have to fiddle around with it to get a connection.
I planned on enabling the built-in hotspot in my truck through AT&T as I didn't want the hassle of tethering either. Before I enabled it, I thought I would try tethering since my T-Mobile plan. Includes 10gb of data when tethering. I use Tasker to turn on my phone's hotspot whenever it connects to my truck's Bluetooth and it works perfectly. By the time I have backed out of my garage, the Phoenix unit has connected to my wifi so I will probably not enable the built-in hotspot.

So, I have updated the px3 and simplecanupdate files. Are the last two from the dropbox needed?

GCATX,
The update.....rar is just a compressed version of the px3.img. The txt file was translated by Guy or someone else and posted earlier in this thread. The verbiage though can be a bit hard to follow.
