How do you like the RCV’s? I actually do have the RCV eliminators but haven’t installed them and are collecting dust on my tool box because work is so busy. I’m also waiting to get all new suspension befor I wanna take everything apart and do it all at once in 1 shot. These looked interesting and didn’t see them posted when I did a search.
No complaints in the past 7k since I had them installed. I was dealing with several issues though with my front suspension mostly from having 95k on my Raptor with lots of offroad abuse.
What triggered the change was back in June 2018 when my IWE's failed yet again this time crashing on/off (or engaged/disengaged). I didn't know it at the time but it caused a c-clip in the diff to come loose as well. So with the IWE's acting up I had the eliminators installed along with replacing the drivers side half-shaft since the outer CV was bad. I then got some grinding sound when turning while in 4WD and then the passenger side inner CV boot failed so when I went to put on new CV boots I found the c-clip came out of the front diff when we pulled the passenger half-shaft! The diff was pulled and c-clip repaired, upon re-install the diff had a lot of slop in so bearings/shims/seals were replaced and finally all was good.
None of this had to to do with the eliminators... it just all happened at once and since the rebuild up front I've put 7k on the Raptor with 2 ROC offroad runs and a lot of time out on the dunes in 4WD, no issues at all and I finally don't have to worry about losing 4WD while out there! Even gas mileage has not suffered like I've rad it will. If we are easy on the gas and cruise like normal people we still see 15MPG!
There is more transfer case noise now. From what I read Ford never did any NVH testing on the TC so there is a slight whine that gets drowned out at speed from tire noise. I was a little concerned at first mainly because I wasn't used to the noise.
Had I known about the Dorman's I may have gone with them myself as they look factory and with my Raptor still under Ford's ESP having those vs. the RCV's might make the difference with a warranty claim should the TC or anything close to the front end need warranty repairs.
