Update: I was browsing the Levittown website today and came across the VSS for 09-10 F150's part # 7L3Z-19A361-AA for $170.

Is the bidirectional part required to extend the range? I’m asking because I just want the range and don’t care about the status lights.

I have a 2012 and the range was great until the past month. Now all of a sudden it’s terrible. I changed the remote battery and no change.

Are you sure that you used the correct battery(CR2032) and that it was good. If it were me I would buy another new battery and try that first (least expensive). Try holding the key fob under your chin when pressing the buttons, many on this site say this method will increase range. The transmitters in the fob is the weak link, maybe try a new fob. After that it gets expensive.

I bought a 4 pack of batteries, so I can try another. The original one that was in the fob was 6 months or less old. I put in a brand new one, but I can try another new one though.

The range change seemed to change all of a sudden. I'd be happy with having it like it was before.

Is the bidirectional thing the only way to extend it?
