whats best dash cam and rear cam

I also run a Garmin DashCam55 front and back. I have them hardwired with the parking mode cable so they record any movement even when the ignition is off.

Where do you have the rear Garmin 55 wired to? Is there a Batt+ and Acc+ nearby?

I am having the same exact issue with my Papago. I have tried some ferrite snap-on clips I got from Amazon and they didn’t work at all.

My next step is to try a different dashcam. I am going to try the street guardian. If you figure it out, please post what you did to fix it.


If i unplug the power at the front camera, the TPMS sees all tires. So its the cam.
All faults are the front left tire, and some, but rare, are both front tires. The rear tires never fault.

On line most folks say its the rear cam, so thats my next test. When i see a fault, reach up and unplug. Is a work in progress but on line folks say it can be fixed. Some on line even wrapped their wires in foil, they are hidden so you can not see it.

If I can find the actual TPMS receiver, one post says its in the overhead, then that helps. Just have not found it. I will put a ferrite clip near any wire close to the receiver. Its a slow process as the TPMS works for a time, and then not.

I will solve this one. One slow test at a time. Shielded wires is all the cam folks had to supply, but they do not.

Maybe slide a braided shield over the length of the dash cam wire, see if it works without grounding the shield.

Thats my final option, since I know it would definatly work.

For $10 amazon has this

1/4" Tinned Copper Metal Braided Sleeving (0.16" Diameter) - 10FT

I took it to a stereo shop and they wired it straight up above the glass, not sure where they attached it. Physically it's to the driver's side of the rear sliding glass, aimed between two of the defrost lines.

Here's a sample of the recordings in 1080p HDR. It will do higher definition but the HDR is good for low light. In this example I was driving on I-35 in San Antonio and three vehicles tried to merge onto the highway between me and the vehicle in front of me. Highway traffic has right-of-way but I still let off the throttle and slowed to 10 mph below the speed limit to make the gap bigger. 2 of the 3 vehicles merged in, the 3rd tried to bully me out of his way. There's no audio (YouTube flagged the music playing in the truck) but the guy was pissed, laid on his horn the whole time, swerved into me, laid on his horn flipping me off as he passed.

Thanks for the good info. I have a front facing 55, and considering installing the same to the rear. I'll check out what's above for connections (likely all going to the upper 3rd brake/cargo light). I figure there will be power down at the big bass speaker/amplifier of the sound system under the rear seat (SCAB). Another fellow said he gets good performance in the 1440 mode. I'll check out the 1080 HDR for low light (night) as you say.

Good video too. Quality looks good both directions.

No joy in finding +12v at the bass speaker under the rear seat. It's only got +5.99v. No other +12v back there that I know of. Putting a Garmin 55 on the rear window may be a no go.

I ran my wires from the passenger, where the fuse box is, along the floor using the channels in the door frames, the plastic all just pops out.

Lots of 12 volts there. All hidden wires. Nice view out the back on that side as well.

Yes, that's where the front cam is wired to. I was trying to avoid running wires all the way to the front. I don't believe that there are any battery +12 wires in the right side floor channel going to the rear of the truck.
