I like the design, but feel like it needs to have a bolt hole to attach to the factory airbox anchor point (especially for a Raptor that's going to be bouncing around off-road). I also had to enlarge one of the plastic holes to get the threadsert to line up, then I still had to muscle the upper and lower plastic portions around to get them to line up properly.

Hmmm? Well, that does sound odd. Did it come with a parts list or photos of the parts? There may be a bracket missing.

Whipple is average, less than mpt and more than livernois at least according to the dyno sheets

Whipple responded and confirmed that the intake I received is "the new 2018-2019 emissions" version.

I may heat-weld a DIY HDPE bracket to the side of the Whipple airbox to utilize the factory airbox anchor point for off-roading peace of mind. I believe that was a big omission on their part to leave that off of this new airbox version...

closed airbox is better for off roading but i thought open airbox on raptor only was to feed more cold air into airbox from open vent hood but could be wrong

on their website does say this below but i have a 19 and got open air box unless my vendor did not tell them year of my truck.

**MY2018+ uses enclosed airbox vs open element.

I have an open air box on my 18

The quote is from the kit specifically for the Ecoboost Expedition, not the Raptor. This whole debacle is just the latest example of whipple wackiness. If you want a well developed and produced product, shop elsewhere, anywhere else.

If you read my post above, you'd have read that the closed airbox is the new emissions airbox version for 18/19 trucks, according to Whipple. Not sure why the constant hate on Whipple from you... For the price, it was the perfect option for me. I wasn't looking to push the limits, just a little extra power and more importantly a solid trans tune, which the Whipple delivers perfectly.
