I’ve been watching and waiting too. I contact MPT and they aren’t ready to sell the 2019 tune quite yet. 5 Star already is. I had 5 Star on my 2018 but wanted to try something different on the new truck. Hoping they come out with something soon. Raptor Takeover is in 2 weeks.

I'll definitely be watching this thread just picked up a 19 Raptor and even though it's a blast to drive after coming out of a 6.7L Ford diesel I think it is lacking a bit in pickup. Sport mode is nice but would be cool to have normal mode feel like the current sport mode and the sport mode be even more fun to drive. Diesel was stock didn't want to void warranty as Ford had a way of tracking the regen cycles supposedly so not sure that would be the case on the Raptor but if I can get something that is reliable and easy to switch back to stock when taking to dealer I would be all for that.

I’m really glad that MPT does not rush anything to the market. That said, how much does Ford actually change in their programming from year to year? It seems like there would only be fairly simple modifications to a 2017 or 2018 tune to create a 2019 tune?

They tweak it yearly. Like refining an O.S.

Mike has been known to find their “improvements” and improve upon them and incorporate them into his older tunes as well. — as far as the tranny is concerned


I’m really glad that MPT does not rush anything to the market. That said, how much does Ford actually change in their programming from year to year? It seems like there would only be fairly simple modifications to a 2017 or 2018 tune to create a 2019 tune?

Sorry for any delay. I need to get you guys the Dyno graphs and I believe they are at his shop - I thought he put them in my truck.

So we tweaked everything and I need to drive it week to give him the feedback as we made some changes on the TCM tune as well.

I did ask him how it would work rolling it out and Mike mentioned that he wanted to do it safely and with more data on his end. He did say he had some preorders and they likely can send out the nGuage to at least read the stock tune but would not release the upgrade tune till it was completed. I think 1-2 weeks max.

I can proudly say that he hit his target of 100Hp increase and 100tq increase and you can really feel the difference. He said there was more and with the right cooling upgrades that would supply better flow of cooled charged air he likely would go up another 20Hp consistenly.

So far the truck feels really good. I went back to the skip shift pattern (1 to 3 to 5 to 7) vs. the 1,2,3,4 etc. Since we have so many gears in light traffic I could feel it shift too frequently. The truck is adapting to the new change and so am I.

The quick difference that my butt Dyno feels.

1. More linear and consistent power across the power band
2. More acceleration at full throttle especially at 20-60 mph (*likely where you will use it the most).
3. The car accelerated past 90 mph much quicker than I remember. In fact on the highway I had to relax a little as I was going much faster than I actually thought I was.
4. Downshifts are good and there is no jerky feel to it. I believe the TCM is adapting a little and will likely need another day to adapt to how I like to drive it as well.


If you were just doing one upgrade to the truck for power - this is the one to do. I do not think the intake will do much and if I was to do anything more I would just drop in a K&N filter and do a larger inter cooler (Wagner or something similar).

Sweet! does the car still do 1-3-5 shifts in normal mode vs 1-2-3-4 etc in Sport? How about the shock tuning in Sport mode, is that unaffected? take care....

It's not that. At least with VW/Audi/Porsche they seem to change the encryption every model year - to either **** with the tuners or just for fun. It isn't so much the programming it's usually the encryption.

The TCM works similar in both modes however it holds the gear longer and downshifts quicker. It will use any gear needed depending on RPM but follows same logic (just more aggressive) in sport mode. I have noticed it’s shifting firmer and more sudden also when in sport mode.
The shocks are not tuned and follow stocks parameters. So when you put it in sport mode it firms up the ride the same as an untuned truck:

Thanks Wizo, sorry if I misunderstood, in Normal mode will it still skip gears in light acceleration?

Yeah- it will keep as you normally have it (light acceleration will skip) unless you want to change it and they can adjust that for you.
