With the pups as requested.

I’m planning to move the recovery boards back a few inches. I drove around for a couple miles. At no time did they try putting their paws up on the top of the bed or tailgate. I don’t think there’s enough room for them to do it comfortably, so it achieves exactly what I was looking to do as that’s when I’m most worried about them falling out. They could technically crawl through the area by the tailgate now, but I don’t see them doing that. It’ll be even better once I have the hi-lift jack mounted back there.

I’m lucky to have a local Rack Attack store where I was able to put my hands on basically the exact set up I’m getting. Nice to have local and enthusiastic support (and a good discount for use of photos of my truck).

What recovery boards are those?? And who’s mounts are used to mount them?

The boards are Speedmaster. I watched a lot of videos on YouTube. There aren’t enough benefits with the really expensive name brand boards to justify their cost, so I got these. I had to drill out the mounting holes just slightly to get them to fit these brackets.

The mounts are from Front Runner. There are cheaper options, but I knew these would work exactly as intended for the dogs and allow the angle to be adjusted so it would match the angle along the side of the cab.

How’s the visibility out the back (without dog heads, of course)?

Not terrible actually. Much better than I was anticipating. I’ll get a pic from the rear view when I go in this morning.

Strongly considering going with this same set up on the rack (maybe with lower legs if they have them). All direct from Front Runner? Or was there a better deal elsewhere?

I got all of mine direct from Front Runner, but there may be slightly better offers elsewhere.

For visibility, shorter legs would definitely be better, but I also like the ability to mount things on the bottom side of the rack while keeping the bed cover closed. If I’m going overlanding and not hauling the dogs, I’ll transition the recovery boards to the underside of the rack to make more space elsewhere.

Thanks. Have the same bed cover. Make sure to check your drain tubes up front semi-frequently - mine were all sludged up and the canister full of water recently! My height issue is the spot I back into at work has HVAC ducting that might be a bit low with the longer legs.
