OK to always leave in 4A?

Good video. Educational and totally makes sense.

In terms of leaving 4A on all the time, the only thing it may affect is fuel economy. If you’re worried about that sort of thing.

Drivetrain damage probably will occur if you let these systems sit without intended use. For me, I switch between 2H and 4A especially with the last round of snow.

Sometimes the dealer treats its customers as if they are completely clueless. If it says in the manual that it’s Ok to drive in 4A then I would go with that.

Yep. For me, main issues are fuel economy and steering feel...it's much heavier in 4A, which is not always welcome in standard on-road driving.

Has anyone tried 4A and manually setting the steering assist to "comfort" mode?

Guess I could try it myself but I only occasionally drive in 4A and the heavier feel didn't bother me enough for the short times I've used it for me to mess with the assist settings.

Read my post again, never said anything about 4a. Just commenting on the post about idiot SAs and techs. The post just happened to be in this section.

I am defending my friends, co- workers and colleagues. One inaccurate comment does not make them all idiots. They have a tough job, and are trying to do the right thing, but always seem to be on the hot seat if they make a mistake.

That being said, I might know a little about all the modes in the Raptor as well as all the other systems in Ford cars and trucks. I have rebuilt plenty of them, taught hundreds of techs how to rebuild them, and regularly consult with the engineers on what I see in the field. Some of the breakage I see is due to design issues, most of it owners not taking care of their stuff properly, or abuse.

It’s too bad your ******* got all bunched up, just proves my point.

I see you’re in So Cal, the state with more f*cking stupid people than all other states combined (except of course, New York) so that explains why you're accustomed to idiots.

If you are/we’re such a great technician, why are you teaching people how to swap parts? I’m old school and definitely of the opinion that people who can, do and people who can’t, teach. Just sayin’.

In 4A it feels like a torque steering effect coming back through the steering wheel (when turning at lower speeds 5-40 mph). My truck has the Torsen front dif.

Does anyone else feel this?

I prefer to not get that feel. When 4A is not needed the truck is left in 2wd.

I have the torsion front diff also and I get a lot of torque steer when accelerating hard or turning corners

Torsion is the sagging front suspension type of the old Dodge Dart; remember the ones with the wheels at unbelievable angles and lots of premature tire wear? those were torsion bar suspension.

Torsen is the type of front Diff in the Raptor.
