I recently moved to NJ from TX but I'm flying back to TX in a few weeks to drive my truck up. The total distance is about ~1500 miles and I'm wondering if you guys/gals have any suggests on how I should prep the truck. I'm also curious to know what yalls thoughts are on replacing the K02 tires with something different for this drive.

To give yall a better insight:

Current mileage is about ~30k

Thanks!

You may want to do some type of undercoating to have the truck live in a NJ environment where salt is used on the roads. I sprayed Amsoil HDMP on my underside when I got it. There are other choices as well. You could do that in TX where it’s warm before your trip. You might also want to consider installing mudflaps given periodic slop on the roads.

Just drive it. I just bought a 2019 from Pittsburgh last week, flew out there and drove it back down to Texas about 1400mi since no dealers were willing to go under MSRP anywhere near TX. Made a few stops along the way, took about 4 days to see a few cities and made a small road trip out of it with the wife. Sprayed everything down when I got back home to get all the salt and crap off. Great way to break everything in.

I got mine for under MSRP in Dallas, but it took some work... Now I need a road trip.

I’m about to do the same thing. Have a quote out of Chicago area close to invoice on a 2019. I am in a little disbelief that the dealers around DFW have such a belief that the Raptor is so irreplaceable on their lot. I see Raptors everywhere when I drive. I guess they are getting enough people buying at or above msrp. Or they will have a bunch of 2019’s leftover as well! Congrats on your new truck!

Yeah it's kinda crazy here in TX, best I did after a few days searching was MSRP for a spec that I wanted. Some dealers scoffed at any discounts and had a few say they want minimum 10k over :roflbow:. I am a bit impatient so when I found one in PA for invoice on a new 2019 in the exact spec I wanted I pulled the trigger with a dealer that didn't play any games and made everything easy.

As a plus the wife and I had a chance to visit and experience a few cities along the way, saw a country music show in Nashville and had some killer BBQ in Memphis, all in all a great way to get familiarized with the truck and see some parts of the south for the same price it cost to ship it down.

This. Spray it down with MPHD as soon as possible, install some PDP mudflaps on the front, and if you're worried about rock chips on your trip, get some trakktape and tape up the truck. Don't forget to check tire pressure - door recommends 38, but that's loaded up, so I say 34ish front 32 rear, and have fun!

Don't forget engine break in tho. From the manual:
