For those of you with a GEN2 (which comes with 35" tires) or who have a GEN1 and put larger than stock tires on it, how do you guys get the emissions done here in CO? I have a Jeep Wrangler with 35" tires, and have had trouble with the emissions testing facilities not accepting any vehicles with tires taller than 33". I realize that my '19 GEN2 is emissions exempt for a couple years, but I'll have to deal with it eventually, and am wondering what you've done. Anyone have any info on that, or any suggestions, etc? Thanks!

Here in CA you don’t need smog testing on new vehicles for 5 years. That’s a lot of time to find a place that can test your truck.

Is that for a spin test, similar to a dyno ? What do they do for AWD vehicles?

Yep, it's a spin test, where they run the vehicle at different speeds (and with different rolling resistances, I assume), and measure the emissions coming out of the tailpipe at the same time. As for AWD vehicles, they have 2 sets of rollers, so that all 4 tires spin.

well, they’re either going to have to accommodate you, or excuse you from the roller test. Most of these scams laws have an out for non compliant vehicles that can’t be processed on the equipment.

Wow... First, Gen 1s come with the same size tires.

Second, since they are a stock size, they have to accommodate you at any test station. If you go larger you'll likely need to hit one of the stations that do oversized tires.
I have a Gen 1 with stock size and a jeep with oversized tires. I have to know this. Luckily the station near me does oversize tires - only a few do.

To summarize, since you're stock, take it to any test station. You won't have to do this for some time, I still haven't had to have my 2012 tested, though it's coming.

I thought I had read somewhere that the Gen1 came with 33" tires. I guess I was confused. Sorry about that!

Anyway, thanks for the info! I didn't realize that if it's stock, that they have to work with me, even if they're over the 34" limit. Good to know (for the far future! haha). :)

In CA the roller test is mostly for cars with OBDI. OBDII cars just plug in for the smog test. OBDI is usually 1995 and older cars and trucks.
