Mine was shiny brand new when I touched up the thin spots, no prep needed

Disappointing. If you look at the parts stickers they look pristine like they were placed on rusted parts. I’ve only had Escalades but I’ve never had rust like that even after a few years of ownership. I live in CA and Escalades are built in Texas.. no salt exposure? Maybe it’s a Michigan winter thing and they salt the trains. LOL

You should peel off part of that sticker to see if they applied it onto a rusted part? Curious

I hit mine with POR15 and then hammered the underside with Amsoil MPHD (Chris Kelly sells it, and there's a good thread on the application of both on this forum).

The POR and MPHD was easy, masking everything was the longest part outside of cleaning, which took +6 hours as it was caked with dried Texas clay. Still about 20% of it still left, too.

Will say I've had an annoying tick on cold startup since doing this, however.

Quality, pride, and workmanship are unfortunately a thing of the past. Everyone needs to setup and toughen up.

I used fluid film on my last and current trucks with great success. Pretty cheap too $11-12 a can and you use 3-4 cans and I tried to hit every spot I saw. Mine had a tiny bit of surface rust upon delivery and I got it in the first month of the 2019s release

Funny story. I bought my truck used and noticed the surface rust on the rear axle which I immediately coated with Fluid Film. While I was getting my windows tinted a few days later one of the workers there asked if the Raptor was mine. I said yes and he said did you buy that new? I said no and he said do you know your rear axle is busted and leaking fluid everywhere? Freaked me out for a second then I remembered it was just the fluid film. I just let him think the truck was a piece of junk and moved on.

Non toxic too which takes the risk and pain of applying it all over the underbody

I hit mine with MPHD within a week of getting it. One of the first things I did. Was concerned about living in the northeast and not having something on the underbody metal.

It's so cool to install rusted parts on a brand new 75K vehicles. And don't complain or you will be banned from the internet for bashing "Ford Quality Job 1."

Don't worry new Raptor owners, rust is the new paint, it's normal. Raptor trucks are built like bridges. Ford installs rusted parts to protect the surface and save the planet from evil paint. Who cares if you buy a brand new truck and it drips rust on your garage floor and driveway. Who cares if you have to PB blast or cut ever bolt to work on your brand new truck. What do you expect for a measly 75K, painted parts?

Here's some photos of a 2016 Lariat 502A 62K sticker I bought in 2016 with 15 miles on the odometer. I bought this truck new and returned it due to excessive rust. Note: Other trucks at the dealer looked just like mine. Luckily Ford took it back.

I checked my 18 Raptor for rust and it was minimum, but my dash was scratched and they refused to fix it. They also refused to fix leather steering wheel leather coming unglued and it's visible, my center console was crooked from the factory (dealer scratched my carbon fiber fixing it), my headlight trim on drivers side was popped out and not flush. I fixed the console with washers and popped it back in place and my truck has several paint nibs. So if you ask me, Ford quality sucks. I would of returned this truck as well, but I bought it 1000 miles from home in Minnesota and no local dealers would fix it. Too bad cause I really like the truck besides all the defects.

So anyone who wants a 18 loaded Raptor with a scratch on the dash and 2500 miles, sticker 71K, selling for 65K, let me know.
