Not sure why but before inside the tach used to show which gear you were in while driving in auto. It will still pop up for manual mode. Any one have this issue? I cant even remember last time I saw it. Plan on asking local dealer when I go in for service. 20190115_151238.jpg 20190115_151220.jpg

this is a bug. if you inadvertently hit the shifter buttons or paddles, the gear display goes dark. Hit the + paddle (again) and it comes back. It’s got to be some kind of easer egg put in by a Ford programmer who’s now laughing their behind off with all the online complaints about this.

This video shows it on a 6 speed, same way to restore the display.

Not really a "bug" it's more as the video described. Just a way to darken/limit the display cluster if you choose.

I'm betting it's more a secondary result of the Progressive Range Selection feature.

I believe it does that to let you know you have locked out a gear. You'd think they would have just made the gears you locked out red so you'd know, but instead they just get rid of the display all together.

The gear # displayed on the side being removed shows that the Progressive Range Selection (PRS) is not active. When using the PRS you will "deactivate" the "gear" you don't want to use during the transmission shifting.

I.E. If you are driving in a low speed trail section and you don't want to use 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th gear use PRS to select "Down" or "-" on the console shifter.
Then the ONLY gears that the transmission would use are going to be 1st-6th.
Once you are done you would use the "+" to "activate" the aforementioned gears you chose to not use in the transmission shifting.
Transmission shifting would then go back to 1st-10th.
