I'm considering this cover for my 2018 Raptor. How is it holding up for everyone? Any issues with the vinyl cover separating or fading? I haven't ruled out a cover like the MX4 either. Does one do a better job with water than the other?

I have had the Revolver X4 on my Raptor since last summer, and so far, it appears to be holding up well with no damage or signs of wear to the vinyl, but my truck does stay garaged when I'm not driving it. I like the way it i sits flush with the top of the bed, and I like that I can roll it up and open the whole bed without blocking my back window. If you spray water at the top and sides of the tailgate, you will get a little water in the bed, most of which could probably be prevented with the strategic installation of some weatherstripping, but honestly, it just hasn't leaked enough for me to worry about it. I have had a Roll 'n Lock retractable cover and a tri-fold in the past, and in my opinion, all styles of covers have their drawbacks and will allow a little water in if sprayed directly with a hose, but for me, the X4 works pretty well. I will admit by how low profile the WeatherTech Alloycover looks in pictures, but I haven't seen on in person.

I had the original roll x on my Gen 1 and it lasted 5 years-had some sand and salt issues when it was rolled up when I am at the beach for our big vacation for a few weeks-surfboards and wetsuits in and out all day long will do it. Some WD 40 and all was right again. Was almost completely dry back there including pouring rain, snow etc.

I now have the new version on my Gen 2 and cover seems great but i am having a latch issue where my cover is not staying locked on one side despite adjustment. Bak customer service is shipping me a new latch and has been very responsive. I have no concerns about this product and am sure that this will get worked out.

I also had an original roll-x on my Gen1 and now have an X4 on my Gen2. The biggest issues I've seen thus far have been seals, they refuse to lay flat and the adhesive in spots is either coming onto the cover or non-existent. I also live in the Northeast and find that it freezes a lot easier than my old roll-x. And if you try to force it open, you run the risk of breaking the plastic clips which sit in the channel (which sucks). I also don't garage my truck and have had my cover since July and have noticed a few spots which have stained/discolored over time.

The only other thing worth mentioning is the fit, compared to my old roll-x, it fits a lot tighter, when I roll it up I can hear audible clicks of it disengaging from the rail until it's completely rolled up. In some ways I think this a good thing, I always thought my old roll-x was on the loose side and towards the end the latch would always release over bumps. I don't see this happening with the X4, everything seems a lot tighter.

Thanks for the input. I'm stuck between the roll up and the tri fold. I'm thinking the tri fold may be more durable, but who knows. So many options. Pros and cons to each I guess

I had the tri-fold on my last truck and now I have the roll up. I like the roll up better. Had it for several months and no leaking at all. The slat look goes away after the sun hits the cover for a while. I would do it again. One warning: there is about an 8" strip of felt like material down each side. Use it to roll the top back to the closed position or you will wind up with a blood blister.

I purchased the BAK revolver X4 roll up after recommendations from a friend who has the exact same. Didn't want the tri fold blocking my back window if I had to expose 100% of the bed. An example would be hauling my dirt bike. With a tri fold, it would cover my back window and I wouldn't be able to see the bike when driving. With the roll up, that's not a problem. Can keep an eye on the bike and ensure it's still secure.

I have the first gen on my 2014. It has held up well after almost five years with the only problem being a small crack in the vinyl on one of the spots where it rolls. Latches need some cleanup from time to time.

Two of my coworkers have the second gen on their power wagons and they have been problem free for 3-4 years. I would buy another for my next truck.

I installed the Revolver X2 on my '17 Gen 2, and it has been super. Took a 1,500 mile trip from NH to FL with half the time in pouring rain. Had the equivalent of a teaspoon of water down each side. VERY DRY. Stays dry in car washes also. The vinyl has stood up to the Florida sun very nicely. I run some Armor-All protectant over it about every 3 months and there has been little if any fading.
