NO. That's why I switched to SX series. Tired of taking out the hose and the little plastic adapter. And that plastic adapter cracks over time and then it leaks right where the hose attaches.

So you don’t use a hose then?

So, I finally did my first oil change @ 5000 miles. I used Shell Rotella T6 5w30, Ford filter and a Fumoto valve. FYI, I’ve been changing oil on my vehicles for 30 years plus.

I gotta day, the oil change was a demoralizing event, to say the least. Didn’t help that I had a good amount of bourbon last night.

I got lucky, and got a late production model with the metal pan. Do yourself a favour, remove the skid plate under the pan. You’ll have to remove it anyways because oil goes everywhere. Also, put a large sheet of cardboard under the truck.

Oil filter is a pain in the nuts to access. I went from the top and grabbed a hold of it with a Channel Lock oil filter wrench. Was installed with the correct torque.
I thought the oil was going to drain from the front spout. It drained out the back and through an opening in the skid plate. I was quick to move the oil pan.

Next oil change should be easier with the Fumoto valve. Feels good to get it done but I feel pretty defeated. Hopefully this helps the next guy.

Sorry to hear it was a pain for you Johnny. Hoped my write up would help avoid some
of those pitfalls.

Yes, your write up did help. I was lazy to remove the skid plate. It’s all cleaned up now and I know what to expect.

Thanks

So my 2018 SCrew is coming up for first oil change. Produced Feb 2018 as far as I can tell. Window sticker has a 2-24-2018 date. This is close to the change over date from plastic to metal oil pan. Any way to tell by VIN whether my truck has a metal or plastic pan? I'd like to order a Fumoto drain valve but the Fumoto site says "not for plastic oil pan." Dealer will do the oil change - its too cold outside!. So far, 8800 miles and no complaints.

First oil change at 8800!!?? Yikes! Changed mine at under 1k. I would advise against having the dealer do it. If you want to know just kneel down and look under the truck, it’s easy.
