I'm not having much luck with the search function.... I'm going to pull my B&O sub enclosure out so I can deaden it and insert some polyfill. I was also thinking I might try to find a subwoofer to put in the oem enclosure as well.

In the interest of saving myself one trip to an audio store, does anyone know what the OEM sub resistance is (single 8ohm? single 4 ohm) as well as what mounting depth the oem enclosure can handle?

Just be careful with ohm loads... You dont want to roast the stock amp... or maybe you do to have an excuse to get a bigger one. :)

If no one posts up some info about mounting depth and/or the OEM sub coil configuration, i'll pull it out this weekend and post back.

From what I have gathered its a dual 4 ohm voice coil.

This is the trick with the B&O...be careful. Not as easy a swap as the old Sony setup.

I would try the wrap and polyfill, then see if you can live with it. If not, I would replace the whole enclosure/sub with a new sub and amp like the behind the seat one here:

I just don't think you're going to get the powerful sub sound you want by trying to jimmy the B&O setup/enclosure.

Has anyone tried to mount the JL 13TW5v2 in the stock box?

Be careful with what? It aint rocket science!

If the stock sub is dual 4 ohm (ill check this weekend), its likely wired series to an 8 ohm load at the amp. If thats the case, you can drop from 8 ohms to 4 ohms rather easily and get additional power output from the amp. While decreased ohm loads are harder on equipment, I would be shocked if a 4 ohm load is too much for the amp to handle. Once you get down to 2 ohm, 1 ohm, etc, things get a little sketchy sometimes.

Im willing to bet a deadened box, with polyfill, and a higher quality, low RMS sub designed for small sealed enclosures will do wonders at 4 ohms on the stock amp.
