Thanks for all the info! I know i read that the front ones raise the front end by about 1.75 inches.

I’ve had gen 2 shocks on my gen 1 front and rear for about 6k miles. Used my gen 1 springs and hats on the gen 2 shock. Truck rides like gen 1 on stock perch, pretty soft and has some nose dive when you hit the brakes. Offroad feels more controlled and planted than the 2.5s, haven’t gone offroad much though. Need to install some limit straps before catching any air. Height is about same as mid perch. I would definitely recommend them for what you can get them for.

I'm in need of a shock rebuild on my Gen 1, and it looks like brand new Gen II shocks are going for not much more than that cost. To me, even a slight improvement would justify buying the Gen II shocks. I do offroad pretty hard including jumping, but spending $4k+ for a 3.0 conversion is a bit much.

I've tried to read through this whole thread, but I'm still a bit hazy. If I'm catching it right, the rears will bolt right in, but maybe need a taller bump stop? The fronts require swapping the coils and also limiting straps? Is that the general gist? Someone please jump in if they can provide a short description of how to make them work, or a definite reason why this is a horrible idea.

For the fronts to work you have to change over the springs and the shock hat. As far as if its a bad idea I pick up my gen1 with gen2 fronts today. My thoughts were I got them fro less than 200 and plenty of vehicles have lift kits for the front that are a longer spring/shock combo to level it. That's how I leveled my 250 I use to have and its what we used on my dads 150. So I guess we will see if the raptor is different from those two when it comes to premature wear.
