2013-2014 Raptors Sync 2 -> Sync 3 Upgrade

FWIW, here is my front cam in action with 4DTech's Sync 3 unit. Complete with moving guide lines.

Very interesting. So what’s the procedure? Did you activate through the dash menu first?

As far as updates go, you’ll need to download the update off of 4dtech’s website onto a thumb drive. Then update Sync 3 through the media hub. Website explains it all.

Yes. Off-road mode, pulled the diff lock, and hit OK to enable. I put it in reverse for two seconds then to drive.

Not sure I want to update it. I’ll call 4D tech to see if one of the updates disables the Front Cam.

Let us know what they say! The guy from 4d Tech told me there is no way to get the camera to work. He said it’s not compatible or they would already have it working.

Yup that's the response I got from 4dtech

Camera Source says they have a system to run with the sync3 to enable the front camera.
Nobody here on the forums has spent the time and money on that mod. Not that I am aware of

I would love to upgrade to sync3
However i don't want to lose the front camera

I’m not spending more money to get the front camera working. Especially since I never used it. On a side note, thanks to this, I discovered a horrible grind when shifting in and out of 4 low. Anyone else have that happen? Couldn’t find any other posts about it on here.

I spoke to 4D Tech. Camera is hit or miss. They aren’t sure if one of the updates will remove the capability and don’t advise upgrading from my 2.2 if nothing is wrong. They said that even with V2.2, some claimed their cameras didn’t work. Given it is hit or miss, they just say on their website it doesn’t work. If I can figure out a way to upgrade, test the cam and then downgrade, I’ll give it a shot.

Why is it that the front camera wont work with the Sync3 upgrade?
Is it a hardware or software issue?

They aren’t sure. It can work and does for some people. They just can’t figure out why only some get it to work. I recall when I bought it that they said it would work. I have a feeling it was a software update from V2.2 to something higher. I am still running v2.2. The other aspect of this might be the camera. Mine is a 2014. Curious about the ones that do not work. What years are those? In other words, did something with the camera change from 13 to 14?
