Are the svt raptors still a good buy? I’m in the market for a truck and having a hard time deciding between the newer Tacoma’s Colorado and Ford ranger coming out soon and curious how the svt raptor would compare to these newer trucks. If I could afford it I would definitely get a gen 2 but that’s not possible so I’m looking at a gen 1 since I always liked them when they first came out. Anyone on these forums get rid of there raptor for a mid size truck and regret it?

Absolutely worth it. Bought my '12 last year and no regrets... Smiles all day long. I look for reasons to drive it. Even with the mileage of the 6.2...

THe ONLY downfall of a gen 1 is the fuel mileage. I bought a 2011 in 14 and have loved it from day 1. If you ar even asking the question, Im guessing you'd regret going to a mid size truck.

I loved and also dearly miss my 14! The seats were better and the sound of the SW lightning exhaust is amazing. If I didnt live in the NE salt belt I would not have got a gen2. The other truck you are considering are not in the same universe as the raptor!

Haven’t had a chance to test drive one so that’s the main reason for asking.200-300 miles for the nearest one

Buy a 2013 or 2014 if you abuse it! They did some frame reinforcement upgrades on those later models. Don't let the gas mileage scare you, my Tacoma and Raptor got the SAME exact mileage of about 14 mpg combined. GEN 1 raptors are an amazing truck and will hold their value even better than a gen 2 over time.
