Called ford yesterday got a regional customer service manager on it. Said they were going to get a parts down team on it whatever that is. I just want my truck back. Hopefully they can help I am appreciative of anything at this point.

We've been reading about ecoboost engines with morning chain slap for years and I'm curious what mileage the noise started? It sounds like some always had the noise even when they were new or after the first oil change? It appears to be a crap shoot with some trucks are quiet to 100000 miles and some don't make it to 5000. I told myself for years I'd never own one of those complicated turbos and hear I am a Raptor owner, this thing is bad ass and I hope the engine runs forever. Once you join the dark side your hooked forever

Some parts came in today, no ETA on the phasers. Aren’t they still building these engines?

I have the same issue... cam phasers. They were on back order for weeks. The local ford dealership wanted to keep it as they initially thought they’d have the phasers the next day so I was off and left it with them. I asked about a rental and they said Ford wouldn’t authorize a rental. Well two days later they tell me the phasers are on back order and they need another week or so. I told them I’d be by to pick up the truck since there was no rental.

3 weeks later, the phasers finally came in. Dealership tells me they’ll need it 3 days, and again I’m off so I leave it. Well 1 week later, they tell me “it’s a major repair and we’ll need it 2 more days.” THat was on a Friday evening......... still no rental authorized. I told him that I needed transportation and someone would have to provide that since this is a common “major” repair and it’s a $66k vehicle. Service has to be better than this.

Well I left it with them because I had to go on duty this past weekend and told them that if they didn’t have it ready Monday morning I’d have to have a rental.

Monday morning rolls around, I walk into the service department and I see my Rap on the lift unattended. Service manager tells me that they still need it for the day... I asked him if he was sure cause it was on a lift and the cams are on top of the engine and not below and he said most likely by the end of the day. Mysteriously a rental was authorized and while I was there getting the rental the agent called my service contact and he acknowledged a 48-hour need for the rental (smh).

Ford has to do a better job.

Just got an email from customer service that said they will give me an update by next Monday the 26th on the parts. At least I’m lucky the dealership gave me a loaner.

With no parts ETA in sight and 2019 engines being built I asked the dealer to look into it. 24 hours passed without a word and have since opened a case with customer care. I’ll give it a week at which point it’ll have been down 30-days, then utilize an attorney.

Gloves off in a week.

I told myself for years I'd never own one of those complicated turbos and hear I am a Raptor owner,

Nothing complicated about a turbo system. they have been well proven since the 70's. Do the required maintenance and a little common sense and they will run forever.

I have had many turbo cars since 2000, and this is my 4th 3.5 eco boost motor and I have never had a single issue.
