I think it's true, just want to confirm before I put it up for sale. I used it once for my 11 screw. I have a 17 screw now... sounds like nGauge + MPT is the way to go?

I just flashed my 2018 with an SCT X4 this evening. I had to perform a firmware update on the unit, but it worked perfectly with no issues. Just preloaded the 87 tune as it’s what was in the tank at the time.

Woah, interesting, first I've heard that works, thanks for the feedback. I wonder if anyone makes an X4 loadable tune for a 17/18 then? Nothing obvious to me as I scanned various vendor websites, but I could have missed it.

A personal friend owns a local dyno/tuning shop, so we’ll eventually mess around with some custom tunes. I’ll even do a stock flash versus the SCT pre loaded tunes and report back. Even the base 87 tune woke her up.

Sorry for necro, but I just went with nGauge + MPT 91 prx and am really happy with it.

So I have this SCT X4 now married to my previous Gen 1 which I no longer have... is a married X4 worth trying to sell?

All Gen 2 custom tuning we have done has been with SCT X4 tuners. As long as the battery is in good shape there should be zero issue with loading a tune if the tuner is up to date. In the beginning of Gen 2 stuff, the X4's offered no support, but that will change upon an free update with a free software download.

If your tuner is married, you can call SCT and they can unlock the tuner for a fee.
