So moving the intercooler into the grill area is a popular modification right now for many reasons, but it requires cutting up the the OEM grill, which for me and many others is an issue because it's expensive to return to stock.

1. Has anyone purchased one of the OEM Raptor grill knock offs for the regular F150s and installed it on a Raptor for this purpose? I see they range from like 200-400 dollars, and is much cheaper than cutting up the OEM raptor grill which is like 800+ dollars with the shutters.

2. Has anyone actually been able to buy the OEM raptor grill? I can't find the part number online.

just cut what's on your truck. If you feel the need to have a spare on-hand, buy one.

Most folks buy the intercooler relocation to afford the use of a frame cut bumper.

you wont go back after you lop the frame horns off. I saved mine, but now they just take up space in my garage.

what are you going to do? weld the horns back on and but a stock grill back in so the next owner can cut everything for a second time?

Ha ha. That’s pretty funny. I like you.

Yes it’s to increase the potential buyer base when I decide to sell 5 years down the road(or when the v8 returns). If the dumb things starts to overheat because of the IC blocking the intercooler I’d like to go back to the oem intercooler location.

So far none of the aftermarket raptor grills are even compatible with the raptor grill anyways.

if it starts to overheat due to the IC relo, something else is wrong ( i.e. you're blocking too much surface area for the radiator or towing a ******* pontoon boat up a 30% grade on a 100 degree day.)

I've beaten the shit out of my truck with both the Full race and SVC intercoolers. No overheating to be found.

I will say that i am looking at a bigger or additional trans cooler, as the TC gets grumpy after about 3-4 hours of masochism. (the computer skipping gears for the hell of it).

I do occasionally tow a 6000lbs trailer in 110-120 weather in California. That's good to know that you've had zero issues. You only really hear about peoples "issues" on these forums and all I can find is how movement of the intercooler has caused overheating. Your success makes me want throw money at SVC today.

Is your truck tuned? I could see the transmission cooler being insufficient if the truck was producing more heat than it was designed for long periods of time. I'm going to stay stock for a while. I feel no need to gain a 0.4 second off the 1/4 mile on a already slow vehicle at the risk of overheating or increasing mechanical wear.

It does the same thing tune, no tune, stock or not stock. As soon as the truck cools down, the behavior stops. The only way to accelerate the behavior on my truck is to use laser guided cruise for an hour or two.

Living in Louisiana, I have to drive quite a ways until I get to the truly open ground, so I pull a fair amount of 8+ hr drives and notice the TC struggling after about hour 5 at 75-80mph. ( this will soon be remedied by a diesel tow rig)
