If the mustang is getting a TTv8 then the raptor must be getting a v8.

Even if true, I bet not before 2021. That would make the V6 Gen 2 a 4 year, and 2 upgrade, model, pretty common. Then they could probably run the Gen 2 for 3 or 4 more years before having to do a major update, including body.

Now, will it get such a V8? I don't really think so, but would be happy to be wrong.

Think about the timeline though, and how that fits with the Ranger Raptor.

What would happen if the Ranger Raptor got a small V6 EB TT, say the 2.7? I think it almost has to, to get a power advantage over the Toyota Tacoma Pro and the Chevrolet ZR2, both of those trucks essentially have the same power as Fords 2.3 I4 TT, so something bigger (more power) needs to, in my opinion, be in the Ranger Raptor. That small truck with that kind of power would seriously encroach on the F150 Raptor in power to weight and performance.

So, to keep separation between the two (F150 and Ranger Raptors) they would need a bit more power in the F150 Raptor. I think it is really possible, probable even, the F150 Raptor will get a power bump when the Ranger Raptor comes out in the US, and a small V8 could be a good fit in the lineup at that time. Or maybe they will just unleash more of the 3.5 V6 TT HO potential, getting it a bit closer in the truck to the HP numbers in the GT.
