Sorry but I just cannot read 1,100+ posts...

Is Forscan a viable alternative to the hand-held "tuners" for adjusting things like A:F ratio, spark timing, gear-changes, and tire circumference?

Yeah I know there's a bazillion other things, just wondering it is is more for features like heated seats and auto-stop than the more mechanical items like ones I mentioned.

EDIT: Reason for asking is that I prefer a laptop/USB interface than the lame arrows with enter key of the handhelds and their LCD screens. Ability to monitor with the tablet/phone is a plus too.

Answer is NO, you need a tuning device/software to effect tuning. You an go with a tuner like MPT or you can purchase the software/license for the HPTuners software and use something like the nGauge or other device to (re)program the truck ECU(pcm)

Ok, I'm ready to throw in a few of these mods. I've watched videos, I've read the turorials, and I still have a question. Once you've made your particular change(s) to a module and saved it by Write or Write All and you are prompted to cycle the power on the truck, do you have to stop, and click the "disconnect from vehicle" button prior to each power cycle? Some mods require multiple changes to multiple modules, so I was just wondering if it was a complete exit of Forscan, restart the vehicle, reconnect the software and start over, or just a off/on cyce while the BT was still connected?

You don't have to every time. When I was doing mine I would cycle FORScan after each specific module was done. I read somewhere that it is best to do it that way, so...

So Wrtie All, then stop, then power cycle, then back out to the list of modules?

Thanks

I write all then when the message pops up, hit the start button. Wait a few seconds then hit start again.
Then I hit stop and back out of the module.
But it probably doesn't matter when you hit the stop button as long as you have cycled the start button before moving to the next module.

So you can do all the changes to say the BCM module at once (impacting more than one new mod possibly). Write all, power cycle, stop back out, then select the next Module, and continue?
