Yesterday I saw an article of a 5.0 coyote I believe 2016 that they swapped all the suspension and body parts to look exactly like a raptor, However it had a v8 and 785 hp supercharged. The only down side is that you would lose your re-inforced frame, but that could be addressed in the aftermarket
There lots more, can’t get raptor shocks on, only 2.5 gen 1, rear shock mounts, not to mention the drive modes. In my opinion it’s not a raptor

Someone went the other way (put the 3.5L eco into a Gen 1), but I have not heard of someone putting a V8 in the Gen 2. The 3.5L swap was a lot of work, but they got it going and proved it could be a pretty capable truck before the Gen 2s were available.

Brad is probably the only one who has the $$$ to do it and he already has more than $50K into his Gen 2 without swapping the motor.

brad? Honestly, once you decide to go for it, 50K in upgrades is not even getting into "stupid" money. I've already blown past 50K. shit 30K might get all the suspension and accompanying req'd supporting mods done.

My 3.5 goes **** up and I'm going for a 5.2 cpc blown motor.

I'd bet that while the "modes" might prove a little problematic, you could get around it.

while not "easy", I wouldn't quantify it as hard, being that everything should bolt up aside from motor mounts ( possibly).

the hardest part will be the traction control and any laser guided cruise issues.

torque management will take a little while to get through, ( plus putting some nannies in as to not destroy the tcase with a full boat throttle bump on dry pavement.

that and the more you mod, the less all of the electro-whiz-bang stuff matters.

His username is bhollier. He spent $50K without doing the $30K in suspension mods you mentioned. He has a lot of non-Raptor things on his truck, like a Fabtech 4" lift, exterior gold trim and even a $2500 carbon fiber steering wheel...

His mods are not for everyone, but he committed to a theme and stuck with it.

I always see people say if you start with a 5.0 truck and try to make it into a Raptor, you wont get all the "goodies"??? What "goodies"? Build it how you want it, without the "nannies" is the way i see it. Think of all the things you could do with a Coyote, lockers, some tuning, maybe even a 6-speed...

$100,000 later And it would probably get beat by a stock raptor. Then there’s the resale value...
There is the rear axle which is larger and wider, the frame is strengthened, the front coil buckets are spread wider so you can get the raptor 3.0 shocks on, the Drive modes, beadlock rims, I sure there is more I forgot but one thing it could never have is the factory tuning they put in to dial the truck.

yep! I've spoken to him. I still think that you could scrap a fair amount of the nannies if you were going to go high hp.

Interestingly enough Currie is starting a program to widen factory raptor rear axle assemblies so that the nannies, abs, etc are retained. ( as opposed to what happens when you swap in a 9")

I think you're missing the point... Start with a coyote truck for $25,000 less. Swap on aftermarket CF fenders and whatever body parts you want. Aftermarket mid-travel suspension and a wider axle with lockers and gears. Engine HP is cheaper on a 5.0 so big HP is cheap and easy. Pick your wheels and tires... What's missing besides a terrain knob for drivers without talent?
