Adding factory crash bars

That's true. Most F150 guys cut them off for tire clearance as it is. They seem so flimsy, I wonder what real difference they make?

I HIGHLY doubt most F150 owners remove the crash bars.

Also, these bars are not there to strengthen the frame, so a Raptor having a stronger frame is not relevant. These extend out past the frame to provide some additional structure to absorbed energy. Without them, the structure, if you get hit in these areas, is just the body of the vehicle, this goes for a Raptor or a regular F150.

Not on stock trucks no. But anybody wanting to run bigger tires on leveling kit/small lift is hacking them off. It's a pretty common practice. Just like the Tundra/Tacoma frame chop for tire clearance. Not everyone is lucky like us Raptor guys with factory 35's lol

I thought the raptor frame passed these test without this additional bars?

Hence why they are not present on the trucks

When you’re talking about an offset or overlap crash in a Raptor vs a standard F-150, I suspect there are two reasons the Raptor does not have the crash bars. One is that as already mentioned, the Raptor has a modified and strengthened frame in comparison to the standard F-150. Secondly, the Raptor has much stronger and wider A-arms than a standard F-150 which attach to the more strongly reinforced Raptor frame, all of which would likely do on a Raptor much of what the so-called crash bars would do on a standard F-150 in an offset or overlap crash.

If that is the case then the Gen 2 Raptor is not a very safe vehicle and all the shit talked about the aluminum body would be true.

Ignorant and fearmongering jenny bs post. Gen 1 doesn't have crash bars either. This test didn't exist when the Gen 1 was designed and appeared in mid-course of Gen 2 planning. Ford added the crash bars as an additional safety measure on the base screw trucks where they fit. The crash bars don't fit on a raptor. Recent F150's with big tires have the crash bars removed as they don't fit there either.

My raptor purchase is on hold after unfortunately finding out that ford (even after having been caught with their pants down on 2015 extra cabs by iihs) did not include the crash bars that make this truck safe in an offset and small offset crash scenario.

I really want to pick one of these trucks up, by my and my families safety is non-negotiable. The safety compromise by not having the crash bars is not one I am willing to accept.

Not sure a couple of flimsy "crash bars" are going to change what he experienced, which was very little damage and a really dead deer.

EDIT: The OP joined in April 2017 and has only made three posts including this one and has not come back to reply. Wasn't April about the time the "new" sasquatch was banned, yet again? Seems awfully coincidental...
