Tune plus downpipes, worth it??

The cell count is the count - it doesn't matter if it is 40 feet in diameter, 1500 cel is 1500 cel. Without flow testing, we have no facts either way so not sure why we are arguing.

I'm not arguing, just stating the facts (after slight correction by @wjn Thanks!). Your response here just proves that you (once again) have no idea WTF your talking about.

:doh2: CRAP! Yes, I know the formulas. I was hastily doing all the calcs and writing them on a scrap of paper. Looks like I grabbed the 2.5" diameter pipe area from my paper. Thanks for catching it right away!
You are welcome.

I am following this thread because I have a '19 on order and not sure if I want to tune it or not.

In my experience with turbo charged engines, the (software) tune is what you initially feel (biggest step, maybe 20-30% increase of power). And until you upgrade the turbos, all other changes are marginal and/or to remove the extra stress the tune causes. For example a bigger IC for lowering IAT back to standard or better. Etc. Maybe you will get 2-5% extra horsepower due to this changes, but you will not feel this as much, this is more or less the same difference between a very hot day and a very cold day.

PS Nice bike taste. I had a '08 Hypermotard, traded it for a '14 Multistrada for touring. And I have a '08 V4 Ducati for fun.

Ok Mr. alternate reality. Clearly YOU are the one who doesn't know WTF you are talking about but convenient to blame it on math. Stay in school.

LOL This is awesome! I'm so glad you're posting this kind of stupid shit for the people who do have a clue to laugh at you. The entire ******* planet operates on mathematical principles. Well, except for folks like you who believe all marketing blather.

I didn't even get into the area of fluid dynamics. You've proven to me and anyone reading that you're not even a worthy of logical debate because you deny hard facts determined through basic, simple math. Maybe you didn't go to school at all?

You should drive the `19 for a while to get a good feel for the truck. You may not even want to tune it because they're that good. For me, it's just too easy to "play" with turbocharged engines, so I just can't leave it stock. You may already be familiar with the FORScan software because it allows you to change many of the most annoying user-interface aspects, so I recommend you purchase the USB interface module. The software is free if you register on the FORScan forum

So, a 2008 V4 Ducati? That has to be the Desmosedici, the original road-legal MotoGP bike. Must be nice to own such a rare bike! They're terrible to ride on the road though, unless you've done some suspension and tuning tweaks, or just a real (literal!) hard-ass!

My point was that you are an idiot and fail at simple math.

If the stock cat has 1500 cpsi and 8" diameter, it will flow (approx.) like a 375 cpsi with 4" diameter. In this case a 200 cpsi with 4" diameter will have a better "flow".

This math makes sense because the smaller diameter cats with 400 CPSI do not throw CELs like the higher flow 200 CPSI cats.

btw i asked mike from MPT that was reviewing my logs if they had done any downpipe testing and he said "We have tested a truck with stock cats, then with catless open down pipe. Gain was 0HP and maybe 2 ft-lbs torque. Was super loud and stunk like hell but power wasn’t there." his axxact words lol so that made up my mind about the downpipes. the stock cats are fine unless im going 800 hp built engine etc then it would actually help.
