What do you do when you bring it back to CA? Assume you need to go to DMV but if financed could be a pain since bank would need to be involved???

You have to take it to get weighed and a smog check. You then go to the DMV to pay the sales tax and licensing fees unless the out of state dealer was able to calculate it and collect it from you. Some dealers won't even bother collecting taxes and fees. It would be your responsibility to pay taxes and fees once you get the truck back to your state.

The only issues that I'm having is that all the local credit unions (SoCal) won't finance out of state purchases. I would have to get it financed through Ford Credit then refinance it once it's registered in California. Most credit unions will consider the vehicle new as long as it has less than 5000 miles and is of the current year.

Doesn’t sound too bad but I like credit unions. Can’t beat their rates but time is money. In the immortal words of Sweet Brown... ain’t nobody got time for dat.

When I bought my '14 I bought out of state in CT bc I couldn't find a deal near me in NJ. It was very easy to register, I think I had to go to DMV once, but worth the time and not paying the stealership their markup.

Getting a vehicle re-titled in another state isn’t very hard. But the dealer where you bought the car from should have it titled in California when you buy it to avoid re-titling.

Growing up in Washington state, we used to buy cars in Oregon all the time. The car was never registered in Oregon—always Washington from the get go.

I’m went with Raptor4you and got msrp with the extended 3rd party warranty on the power train. I’m purchasing out of state and the truck is going to be shipped to a dealer down the road from me.

1500 under msrp and im in Michigan
