Mobil 1 full synthetic and motocraft filter from walmart. Stuff is cheap out there. U can get a jug of 5 quarts for less than 25.00. For the guys running twin turbos, anyone running valvoline vr1 racing oil? I run this on my turbo gsx due to its high zinc content that helps with turbo bearing longevity. Recomended by forced performance.

The zinc in VR1 will damage catalytic converters

On my Gen 2 I'm running the stock oil filter, but using Redline full synthetic for oil...

Would run only synthetic with turbos for the heat protection and better cold weather flow for start up...

I do like Mobile 1 also...

In the Raptor I run the Redline 5w30 w/Motorcraft filter and still do 5k mile changes. The redline has more zinc as well and isn't kind to the cats, but IDGAF about the cats. If/when they decide to "stop working" and set the OBD code(s) they'll be removed completely and be replaced with cat-less down pipes.

The Mobile 1 oil is great as well and I've run it in the past. I've also run the SuperTech synthetic from Walmart in another turbo car with full bolt-ons and the engine has lead a hard life, but no problems at all.

People swear by Pennzoil as well, so the bottom line is run whatever you want (except royal purple crap) and if you're concerned, do the oil analysis through Blackstone labs and get the chemical truth, not "feels".

Just curious as to why you're saying don't run Royal Purple?

There was an independent test several years back that compared the synthetics. The RP was so bad it was hardly any better than regular oil. Sorry, I don't remember the details, I never used it anyway, so it wasn't a big deal for me. May can google it and find it...

Yeah they've definitely stepped up their game. They're in the top rated oils of every 2018 oil reviews that I've read

I just swapped the oil in my recently purchased 2014. I used the FL820S filter with Mobil 1 5w-20. I've always used Mobil 1 in all of my vehicles and gotten great results. Seems the truck doesn't like mobil 1. My MPG's are down. I was getting 16-16.5 MPG now I am getting 15.5 and struggling to maintain that. Do these motors like particular brands better than others?

I would be more than happy with 15, I am getting like 12 in town but just short trips. Road trips to SoCal avg 14 to 15 running General Grabber 35’s which I think are pretty heavy, Mobil 1 oil and Costco premium fuel with a JDM tune. May try either Redline oil or Amsoil next oil change. Anyone get a mileage boost with a certain brand of oil?
