Except mostly what he’s saying is correct.

You aren’t getting cold air from a CAI and it’s not building you horsepower.

You aren’t getting but a drop of
Power from downpipes with stock turbos.

You aren’t getting anything from spd turbo adapters.

It just is what it is. I have done it all and have exchanged components and brands 3 times over.

A tune, catback and a decent drop in filter is about all you’re getting before you go to larger turbos and upgraded heads.

So does anyone recommend re-gapping the plugs or replacing them with the tune? I thought I read somewhere that Whipple required it after their tune and hardware due to the added boost. Is this actually beneficial, or more of the same fluff?

I was told by many on here and my mechanic to replace with sp542 plugs. There is a thread on it about halfway down the page on it in this subject. Explains some of the issues and solutions. But hey what do i/they know? I called a few more guys about this whole thread and there is a lot of conflicting info really. Look the CAI is overrated no question. Most everyone agrees. Some say the adapters give you a boost, others do not. Most agree the full exhaust and downpipe give you something for sure. All i know is my 18 is considerable faster after adding the adapters, intercooler, downpipe, exhaust, and CAI. This was done after i drove on just the tune for a while. So i feel i got return on the money i spent on it. We can all just agree to disagree.

Ok...

The downpipes give a whopping 7 ponies.

How did you find that out?

Also if you do down pipes and dont open up the rear of the exhaust to the size of the down pipe, you really are only opening up the exhaust the size of the smallest opening.

CAI = NOTHING on boosted engines...Same on Ecoboost Mustang....it's been beaten like a dead horse. Anyone who does it does it for Sound...as stated here.

I have the SPD Turbo Adapters...they do NOTHING. Again, anyone lying to themselves that they FEEL more power or quicker this and that...is kidding themselves to justify the money they spent.

I did the SP542 Plugs...noticed nothing there either...Just telling the truth.

I have a BCB Tune...and that I can feel.

I got the the Full Race Intercooler with Turbo Smart BOV. I Can't feel either, but I know when it gets above 80F here in MA/NH my IAT stays a lot lower than before b/c I can see that on my gauge, and I can HEAR the BOV so that works lol...

Exhaust or Down Pipes...I can't comment on b/c I am not spending the money to sound louder or not pass emissions here in MA....but I would think there are some gains...10-15 HP maybe...but not a good ROI IMHO...but some people love the sounds they get....but anyone fooling themselves that they FEEL 20HP on a 6000lb truck is just that....fooling themselves.

100% correct...Peak HP = Nothing if the under the curve gains are nothing...but for a CAI it's ironically always the Peak numbers quoted.

Turbo Adaptors arguably hurt acceleration/spool b/c of loss of necessary back pressure on stock turbos.
