Gen 1 Raptor. So this happens intermittently but every once in a while upon starting the truck up a clear thumping sound from behind the glove box is heard. After a couple of seconds or so the thumping goes away. A/C still working as it should and re-circulation is also functioning. I was thinking maybe a blend door motor on the brink of going out? Any recommended trouble shooting?

Mine started out that way in my 11 and gradually got worse. If I recall, the ones behind the radio control individual zone temp settings while the 2 behind the glove box control defroster or vents and the hot/cold mix respectively. Try those settings while the motor is making noise to narrow it down.

There are youtube videos about changing the upper and lower BDMs behind the radio without pulling the dash. Check out Fordtechmakuloco's page. But it sounds like yours is one of the other 2 motors. I had mine done on extended warantee, so I cant tell you if there's a way to sneak them in, but I'm guessing not.

Did all 4on my 2011. Started the ticking noise about a year ago. Finally decided to do them all. About 6hours. Hardest is the one on the bottom under the case and against the lower vent. Followed the above mentioned Makaloo video.

Thanks for the replies guys. I did see Fordtechamakulocos youtube videos, the thing is I only see him replacing two of them. After watching the videos I played around with my setting a bit and when I turned off DUAL CLIMATE it seemed to quit thumping/clicking. Is that motor the one behind the the radio? Did I get lucky? LOL
