From my experience hearing a busted cat is extremely hard from inside teh cab. Do you have any intake mods? From what you said it sounds like detonation or what is called spark knock. I have heard a broken drive plate(flywheel) make the same sounds also.

I've got the same noise in my truck and have been leaning towards a cat. Mine i would describe as gravely more than marbles but I test drove another raptor before buying this one and it did not make this noise. Only on acceleration and really pretty quiet ( can't hear it over the radio).

My wife heard it - I hardly noticed it. Yes - drive with the radio on all of the time and it completely drowned the noise out. When I rolled down the driver's window, it was very apparent - highway or residential. No intake mods - truck is absolutely stock at this point.

Gravelly/metallic is a much better description than marbles in a can.

Try posting in the facebook group.

Also, you should call JDM/Livernois/RPG/SVC/TMX/Miller Offroad etc. Those guys do header installs all the time and I know when I had my headers done I left the stock exhaust stuff at the shop. I also know I would have given them to you if I had them... plenty of other guys would do the same.

I put on a Bassani catless y-pipe when I broke a pipe off a cat (the crossover pipe was pretty flattened as well). Somewhere around $500 shipped I think. About $2000 cheaper than a Ford replacement. BUT, I don't live in a communist area with emission checks or vehicle inspections.
