2013 Ford Raptor SCREW purchase

Yes you do that, you seem to know it all. Always makes sense to buy local vs paying to ship a truck with more options, less miles, more upgrades and a few thousand dollar difference. Seems crazy anytime I'm on the viper forum, Porsche forum or lambo forum asking about cars to buy and actual owners offer to sell me their car that is listed for a better deal and if not wish me luck and warn me about cars that may be not so good. Let us know how that raptor does and the deal you get and the cost to fix the issues you saw. Sorry we all didn't jump for some guy talking about buying a raptor but not knowing anything about them. We don't get fake buyers everyday. I'm sure you will get lots of replies and info for some solid trucks that are not listed on the forum as you seem like a cash buyer and well informed ready to buy yesterday.

Just a little elaboration is nice so you don't come across as somebody just hawking their wares. You had sent me a link to your truck twice, with no other text or helpful insight, twice before I even posted the leaf spring issue.

And then you're like "fine, don't trust me bro, I told you that truck was bad news!" AFTER it turns out it has a major issue.

I asked you guys because, like I said, you should all know best.

What I take from this is that it's with 99% certainty impact damage.

Where do these trucks start to rust first? Any problem areas?

Rockers are an area to look for rust. There are drain holes that only have tape covering them and over time the tape gives allowing debris / road salt, etc. to get in them.

Did you have to pay a fee to have the truck you posted transferred to your local carmax?

I believe Carmax will transfer the vehicle but will not charge for it if you don't buy it. Usually, they are pretty good at buying cars without impact damage.

I've never seen a left spring bent like that, so I can't help with the cause of the problem. But if you do replace the leaf springs, go with Deavers. These will raise the back-end 2" or 3". Then you can raise the front end by setting at mid-perch. I also have Geiser spring in front. If you want original leaf springs, I have a set you can have for free.

I paid $200 to have it transferred. You can ask specific questions before having it transferred, and if it shows up misrepresented you can get your money back. I think the rear end not driving in the same direction as the front is an exception. Thanks for the rocker info, I hadn't read that one before.

So as an update I've talked to 3 more people in the industry, one of whom is a Ford tech, that say they wouldn't have any serious concerns with the truck if the leafs are replaced and everything is square. The leaf should be the weakest link to give from a rear impact, and the fact it drives smooth with no noise or vibes is a good sign.

One person suggested the possibility it was ****** pulling it off of the trailer. The flaking on the leaf did look fairly recent.

CarMax called and said they're replacing the leafs. I told them if they got a sheet detailing a full 4 wheel alignment with thrust angle I'd consider looking at it again.

If I can get them to come down a couple thousand I might still consider the truck.

Sounds right to me: if everything is square and aligned, replaced leafs in and of themselves wouldn't be a deal-killer for me. Still a question of price.
