AS title reads, the 18 Raptor with 5100 miles on odometer hesitated on take off oil pressure gauge went to zero, made a cling clang sound and died on side of hwy.
I phoned Ford customer care and they had a roll back dispatched within 30 minutes and hauled to Ford dealership.
Ford Dealer called me and said engine appears to have a hole in the block, Ford instructed them to start tearing engine down and they are flying in one of there gurus in to diagnose and investigate what the heck happened.. The service manager told me that Ford seemed very concerned and acted like this was a RARE occasion..
Has anyone else heard of engine failure on these new Raptors?.. I will keep you posted..

Any update on th truck?

Sorry . Actually they indeed are putting in a new engine. Problem has been “backordered” appears this one isn’t the only one loosing oil pressure .
I will post full breakdown once I get back with service records.
Zero cost to me and a new platinum for loaner while repairs are being done.

Has the rep landed yet???

Sorry . I will post service records and all once they get new engine installed..
Happy to say mine has 17k care free miles with AFE Super Intake MPT tune . SPD adaptors installed since it had 3k miles .
Doesn’t burn a drop off oil and only scare I have had was the performance of the truck outweighs the speed rating on tires.. fc6de8f0dbb5cce4d3a61121eae09c1c.jpg

I've been in the automotive repair industry since I was 17 yrs old (I'm now 59) and I can tell you 2 things:

1) EVERY manufacture has had their engines destruct in some bizzare way at some time. This does include the Ford 6.2L
2) Non race engines throwing a rod thru the block are EXTREMELY rare...

I have read of some EB 3.5's having low pressure issues, but some were just a sensor issue.

I'm a HUGE Gen 1 fan, but if anyone believes the 6.2 was perfect and one never had issues, you are sorely mistaken. That being said, the 6.2 does have a great track record..

have a 2018 Raptor 5300 miles blown motor friday, low oil pressure light came on pulled over checked oil level and less than a quart low. Hope they resolve quickly. My first Ford purchase but will give them a chance to resolve. I know nothing nor none of us are perfect, I will reserve my opinion until next week when I get answers and find out if I get a loaner.
