Never buy filters from Wal Mart. The guys on the Under The Hood show preach that Wal Mart has the same part number, same box but does not contain the same filter. It's cheaper for a reason.

Local dealer mechanic told me he has replaced 2 Ford engines because of cheap filters installed by a local indy. He still has the filters on his work bench. When you shake the filter the element rattles around.

I don't care what brand of filter anyone uses but spend the money to get what you think is the best. This is a damn poor place to save a couple of bucks.

I'm doubling down on the ******** as well. People say the same thing about their gun selection. Usually it's from local gun shops trying to sell the same rifle or shotgun for twice the price.

I basically subscribe to the theory that oil is oil as long as it meets the specifications.

I use Motorcraft FL-500-S filter w/ 6 qts of Mobil One 5W-20 extended Life synthetic.

Been running Mobil One Extended Performance with the Motorcraft Racing filter since day one on my GEN 1 with no issues (165k). Will probably go with Annual on the GEN 2 when it arrives. I do at least 150 highway miles every day, so I’m comfortable with it. Not sure if i will go a full year between changing but might push it to 25k.

I buy my rotorcraft filters from 3 sources. Dealer, our shops local parts supplier here in socal (warren distributing) that stocks OEM motorcraft parts, and walmart. All 3 filters are packaged the same, same box, same filter in the box with the same graphics printed...

So you're saying walmart sells motorcraft filters that are packaged in OEM boxes, look identical with the real looking motorcraft markings but are knock off? LMAO umm okay...If this was true they could have a lawsuit on their hands.

I buy my motocraft filters from 3 sources. Our shop gets them from the dealer, local parts distributor (warren distributing here in socal that carries motorcraft parts) and sometimes walmart if I'm there getting ammo or whatever. All 3 places have the same box, same filter inside, no "rattles", all identical. If they were selling fake filters and it caused engines to blow up, they could be hit with a huge lawsuit...
