OEM HID Problem

Thanks. It warmed up around here and the light is back to "working", altough it's a little slower than the passenger side. I wondered about dirty getting up in there. Just a crappy design.

I didn't find much more in my search, but only because I got distracted by Raptor Retrofit and their customized options. (pardon the drool)

Anyone know if I sent in my headlights if they would correct (or possibly upgrade) the high beam mechanism?

I've seen tons of these with the OEM projectors, usually a solenoid failure. Hate to say it but its just a cheap ass generic projector in there. We can replace the stock projector for you or upgrade to the EvoX 50w projector setup, please contact us through the website with questions - Home - Raptor Retrofit - Ford F150 HID headlights

Thanks! I think you answered my main question: when you mod them do you keep the stock parts or replace. Sounds like it’s up to me. I’m heading over to your site now to resume my drooling.

I had the 50 watt upgrade done to mine, they are so nice now.

Did you opt for any options? What did you do, or wish you had (or hadn’t)?

Closing the loop on this old thread. I orders from Raptor Retrofit about 9 Months ago and have been running the lights since. Very happy with the results. High-beams were a nice feature for the Wisconsin winter.

I wanted to bring back this thread and see if there was ever any way to solve this issue without pulling the headlights apart? My driver side currently stays on unless the high beams are on for a while. I’ve replaced bulbs, miromoto harness. (I have a 2012 with the OEM 2013 headlights.

The possibilities are high resistance in the circuit that powers the shutter solenoid, a faulty shutter solenoid, or a sticking shutter. You can verify power to the solenoid without disassembling the headlamp.

How do I do that? Sorry when it comes to electrical I am clueless. I can fab cages and everything else on a truck, but can’t wire up a stereo haha

I looked up the solenoid function; if the solenoid fails or power is lost, it will remain in the low beam position. Therefore, the only thing that can cause the shutter to remain in the high beam position is a short to voltage on the shutter control circuit or a faulty headlamp. If you unplug the headlamp's electrical connector and it remains in the high beam position, the headlamp itself at fault.
