Led headlight bulb?

Hey Dane. So they do give off heat but not as much heat as halogen bulbs naturally. LED's run cooler then halogen bulbs however they aluminum portion of the bulb does act as a heatsink.

I've never had any issues myself here in NY with icing up. If you are driving longer hours in a bad snow storm with freezing rain well you'll naturally get ice, even with halogens. We sell to a LOT of Canadians and so far none of them have complained.

So you should be okay, about as okay as one can be in an ice storm bad enough to get big accumulations on your headlights.

I have a 5 D-cell Brinkman flashlight (it's a big sucker) that was originally designed to use a halogen bulb. I found a manufacturer that markets an LED conversion, and bought it. The result is a very bright light pattern with a dark center. It's sort of like a halo. Lots of light, bad pattern.

No it's not automotive, but it does demonstrate that there can indeed be a mismatch between a reflector designed for a halogen bulb and an LED designed to replace it. For what it's worth.

However, I purchased and installed the crystalux on post 2 and they are fantastic. I love them and am completely satisfied. In fact, I haven't seen one person who has bought them that wasn't happy.
