Hey Guys,

Anyone running one? I’m curious how you like the fit and performance?

I have the Ford Factory tri-fold cover now and it’s kinda crappy. With the bed extenders nested, it takes a Herculean effort to pull the spring loaded handles to unclip it. Then it’s clunky to fold. Once you do fold it up and drive around.... at least once I’ve had it slide while folded, so much... that it fell off! Fortunately it landed in the bed and didn’t do any damage.

I’m thinking I want to retire it.

I had one on my Tundra TRD Pro that I just sold and loved it. Fit perfect and kept everything in the bed dry during the time I had it. Very easy to roll up and snap into place with the adjustable straps and buckles should you need full use of the bed without completely blocking your rear window (unlike MX4).

They are coming out with the Revolver X4 shortly, but from what I can tell it is just a matte vinly finish on the top instead of being somewhat shiny like the X2. I am planning on buying one here shortly for my raptor that I have on order, but haven't decided if the X4 is worth the extra money.

I had one on my last truck and I liked it. The only negative was in the winter it would get stiff and was sometimes hard to roll up, especially if you got any snow melt that would re-freeze.

I put the MX4 on my 2018 Raptor and I think I like it better. Only down side is that it blocks the rear window when it's all the way up and the X2 didn't, but I don't run it that way often, so I think it's a good trade off.

How hard was it to put on?

I didn't install it as my friend that I bought the truck off of had already bought and installed it. It was pretty easy according to him and he did it without any help. I think he told me it took him maybe about a half hour to install? Installation video on Bak's website makes it look pretty easy as well.

I had the revolver on my 2014 and I liked it, but it was not as stout as the MX4. Both are easy to install, the MX4 was a dream to do. I installed both my myself and it took less than 30 minutes with a quick beer break. Both are good, though I am loving my MX4.

Isn't that just a rebranded BAK MX4?

It might be, it sort of looks like it from the picture, but I can't find out for sure. I do know thus far I really like the MX4 (It has been installed for 2 months) and it was easy to install. Paid a lot less than retail for a MX4+Bedrug setup.

I’ve got the Ford branded Revolver X2.
It was easy to put on and adjust.

It is, I think, the best looking cover. I like the very low profile, clean look.
I really like that it doesn’t have all the seams the other covers have.
I like not needing the box drain hoses which I always think look kind of hokey.
I’m in severe cold weather now and it still operates great.
The vinyl seems to be high quality because it cleans very easily.
I like that it automatically locks and has no Velcro to fuss with.
The only disadvantage I see is it takes a wrench to remove the 4 bolts holding the cover to the side rails.
When rolled up it still takes up a bit of box space but no more than the fold up units like the mx4 and doesn’t block rear view.

Horrible. Returned it for the Flip instead.

It had terrible alignment problems and even gouged my tailgate cap when the shims were removed. The locks are super finicky and without putting MORE shims in, you won’t get them to engage.

Tried different combos and even had BAK take a look. We all decided the Flip is a lot better fit.

Functionally, meh. Sure, it’s nice to roll it ALL the way and not block the window. But it’s all or none; no midway. I was surprised how much I like having my bed only partially covered. And the Flip, you can stand on the folded cover...it’s that strong! Don’t try that with the X2.

Yes, it DOES rattle from wind buffeting.

Swapped for the newer MX4 and much happier.
