Thanks to this thread, bringing an out of state Raptor into California was easy!

Ordered an '18 in mid June, showed up two weeks ago and flew out to take delivery on Thursday 10/12. Drove it from Austin, Tx to San Diego, CA (21 hours straight through) on Friday. Today found a local moving company that weighed the truck (took 5 minutes and cost $10) and then had it smogged (took 12 minutes and cost $46). Found out while I was waiting for the smog test, the smog test place said they could register it, verify the VIN, issue a California title and license plates all for a $70 fee (this fee is in addition to tax, registration, etc). So all said a done in under an hour and I didn't even have to set foot into a DMV.

Don't pay over MSRP to the crazy dealers here in California. MSRP or better is out there and the process to bring them back to California isn't bad at all.

What place did you go to smog/register? I’m just north of you in Orange County and have a raptor coming in next week.

Did you have to pay sales tax?

This confusion over CA emissions sucks. Ohio dealer refuses to sell me one off there lot because of this issue. "We can lose our license if we sell a non-ca emissions vehicle to CA". I'm trying to educate them but I'm getting nowhere. He even sent me a picture of the emissions sticker that says California in plain sight. He did say he would order one with the CA emissions on the Sticker and MSO. This shit is Frustrating:mad:

Some dealers are just stupid and won't sell a car with the CA paper only option to a CA resident. Been there done that.

I had to educate a couple of dealers during my hunt....

It's pretty easy, tell'm to go pop the hood and look at the emissions sticker.
