When my wife and I got married she bought me a titanium wedding ring. There were various grades of titanium offered, and she bought the top grade. I could not keep that ring shiny. I had to polish it weekly with polishing compound and a buffer wheel, removing material every time. I'm retired now, but I was not employed as a oil field worker, mechanic, plumber, or in any other field in which my ring would be abused. I was an office worker - a bureaucrat. I had to replace that ring within a couple years.

Metallurgy is an interesting science. Metals have very different properties, and there are alloys of most metals that also have very different properties. Titanium is good for some things (the skin of the SR-71 supersonic spy plane, for example) and is not good for other things. Let the buyer beware. As always.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! So much knowledge in once place I don't even know why I go anywhere else.

There's a reason why no manufacturer makes engine blocks out of titanium.

Dinoone,
That bottom lug shows corrosion consistent with aluminum corrosion. I've done lots of work with Titanium as well as Aluminum; possible that the Titanium lugs have an aluminum jacket?
