I can’t believe I’m even typing this.

I hate cell yakkers. texts aren’t as important as driving. etc.

I was driving along recently and got a traffic alert from one of the local stations by SMS text. The phone chirped, truck didn’t pick it up. I was bluetooth connected and figured it should have paired. As it turns out, that traffic alert was for my eventual route home. Hence the post.

I have replicated the issue several times.

whether I remote start or get in the truck and fire it up normally, the iPhone pairs over bluetooth. I can play music, make or receive calls, but, text messaging isn’t enabled. I select phone ; messages and it pairs for future messages. Truck is a Nov. ’16 build, phone is iPhone 7 on latest IOS.

Anyone have this issue as well and if so, were you able to successfully get pairing to reliably forward texts over sync?

workaround: Summon siri via voice commands button by holding it until you hear the tell tale Siri chime and ask her to check your recent text messages.

this happens once in a while - is there an online site to submit CarPlay and/or Android Auto bugs?

This happens to me all the time. I have got in the habit of clicking the phone button and then pressing the text button to allow all future texts. I am definitely not taking it to Ford. I have another stupid issue with the turbo gauge going back to default but again not worth taking it in to me. I will just deal with it.

Yeah, I hear you. I hate bluetooth. I hate the very thought of troubleshooting bluetooth, because once it gets past the ‘forget / re-pair’ your device, even level2 troubleshooting is flummoxed.

At least I’m not alone.

Nope not alone. The text issue started 3 weeks ago for me. No updates on the truck software but I may have had iphone update.

Just a thought...
Have you checked to see if you've enabled the Text Notifications setting in the Sync system?

since posting, I’ve been monitoring the issue. 1 out of 5 times texts weren’t sync’d, but this is across all start methods, remote, and in the truck.

there was one other time I didn’t include, in which the iPhone wasn’t sync’d at all. not sure what was up there, but different from just the text forward not working.

Let's all keep in mind that, after all, SYNC is developed by...none other than...MICR$OFT. That will explain most problems.

Same here if you listing to a radio station then no audible text alert will come through only vibration. If listing to bluetooth radio then all audible sounds work as they should. So annoying if you don't have phone in your lap to feel it then you miss text alerts.

Just got my truck...is there any way to NOT use Siri on your iPhone for handsfree calling? I don't use Siri on my iPhone 7+ because I don't want apple listening/archiving/profiling everything I say or ask it (yes, I am weird/don't trust big tech). Why do you HAVE to use it to use a handsfree phone in a truck???

Also, is there any way to cycle through sources from the steering wheel? It's annoying to have to use the headunit to go from AM to FM to whatever. The manuals show and describe a mode key in the middle of the steering wheel infotainment keys, but the Raptor has the handsfree button there...TIA.
