Tire Opinions

Hey everyone,

So I take a look at my tires the other day... and at 7,000 miles the rear tires have at least 50 percent of their tread gone. I'm going to rotate them obviously.... but wow....

Yes... I have a habit of laying into the gas pedal but I'm not squealing wheels or doing burnouts...

That being said I'm not really worried about it...

I'm thinking about my next tires

Anyone have any thoughts?

Toyo open country RT?

Nitto Ridge Grappler or trail grappler?

I need something that has road worthy, won't hum on the highway but has decent bite for snow and light off road.

Something like the KO2.... only something different to change it up.

Same here, already ordered a new set. I drive aggressive as well but still a constant 14.6 MPG but yeah tire wear is about half already.

I think KO2's are the best all around tire, good street manners and good offroad in everything but mud and are snow rated. Goodyear Duratrac would also be a good choice I think, a lot of members say they do the best in snow. I just put on a set of General X3's because of the added traction and they're relatively quiet, I don't daily drive my Raptor though.

Duratrac's are a good alternative. Word of warning, they start off nice and quiet but as they wear they get progressively louder.

Anyone to chime in on the Toyo open country RT OR the Nitto Ridge Grappler?

Both are in the spirit of the KO2... a hybrid street and off-road tire...


I don't want to go Goodyear... that's totally Dodge and Jeep...

And General is a little too old school sounding for me.

is the Duratrac made in a 35x12.50R17?? Can't find them.

You're not gonna beat the KO2. But frankly, after having probably 6 sets, you're getting far too little mileage from them, in my experience. The KO2 is mind blowingly better than the first version T/A.

I have a set of 37x12.5x17 Toyo RT on order....will have more feedback when their installed.

i running toyo rt now. love them ... bf's were killing me with small rocks and gravel here in texas

RT's are great. Only so so on the hard packed snow/ice. Great in the deep stuff. They wear pretty well too. Mine have about 20k on them and they're easily 60-70% tread. The Ridge is also a great tire, quiet, better in the snow than the RT but I'm not certain on the wear. It's supposed to be similar to the RT but Nitto didn't put a mileage warranty on them so I'm skeptical. Another nice hybrid tire is the Cooper ST Maxx. I've heard they wear pretty well too.
