GEN 1 Riddle me this

Bought a new power steering pump and new steering rack and my steering feels looser than before. It's insane how wobbly it feels going down the road. Going to the dealer tomorrow for diagnosis.

Anyone have any ideas as to what the hell is going on with my truck?

What are the part numbers of what you purchased?
Are the steering rack bolts tight? Torque on those are 325

Pump: Motorcraft 3A674 (STP-281)

Rack: Motorcraft 3504 (STG-540)

I'm not sure what they're torqued to. These damn shops have no idea what they're doing.

Alignment?

are you running aftermarket tie rods? if so does it need new hiems?

Just had it aligned after the rack was installed and I'm running stock tie rods which weren't replaced when the rack was installed.

I can hold the wheel at 2 & 10 and feel the wheels wobble left/right almost the entire time driving.

Air in the lines or something has worked its way loose. Not sure if the raptor has a gear box.

Maybe the rack is defective. Was it re-man or new?

I thought the new racks came with new tie rods installed? The rack is the gear box btw.

The rack was bought new from ford. Just got brand new tires as well and this steering is dog shit. Ford says it’s “nice n tight” you can hold the wheel straight on the freeway and feel the tires moving left/right with the road. There’s zero resistance to the road, it takes the steering wherever it wants to go. I’m going back to them cuz the steering got stiff the past few days and can feel a slight “grind” when turning the wheel left, like doing a u turn. This shit has to be defective cuz I won’t believe this is how a raptor is supposed to drive. Everything is new.
