Thanks for the extensive feed back... :waytogo:

I think the only think I have to decide on is giving up the garage parking....

Is it easy to put on and take off? You know, minus any lighting... I guess I could always use water proof electrical connections for that.

It's relatively easy to take off. Taking it off by yourself is possible. I just slid a packing blanket underneath and unbolted it to the rails. I wouldn't go past the rails unless you plan to permanently remove it. I say this as your jack nuts or nut serts will likely get loose and spin freely should you try to reinstall the rails.

Looks perfectly fine with just the rails imo. Here's a few pics with just the rails on.

After months of it taking up space in my garage I finally installed mine. Very easy install overall. I still need to throw some lights up there and complete the wiring but that's gonna have to wait a month or two until I can be at home and knock it out. The wind deflector install sucks. I'll probably end up either removing it altogether for a 50" bar underneath or making some custom brackets to get a cleaner install. I have no noticeable increase in road noise but the corners aren't planted to contour with the roof as much as they should. It just doesn't look very clean.

Overall, I'm impressed with the accessories I ordered with the rack. I ordered the hi-lift, shovel and ax mount, sunroof insert and tool box. I figured I could resell anything I didn't like since Gobi racks are so plentiful. The only thing I don't see a use for right now is the tool box. I'm unsure if I want to take up so much rack space with a small box up there. Realistically I'll only throw some light tools and traction mats up there most of the time. I don't really like the idea of being too top heavy but I needed more bed space.

The wind deflector edges don't contact the roof with the supplied brackets. I'd have to do some serious bending of the brackets to make the deflector contour to the roof. I know some of the other guys have cut the wind deflector to the roof contour, or messed with the brackets, but I haven't had time to really mess with it.

Overall I still love the rack. It looks badass and serves the purpose. I need to get it on some hard trails once I get the lights on there.

About to wiring up my lights to my rack, have a 40" and 2x 9" in the rear. How's everyone wiring their Gobi? Want to move the satellite antenna to as my XM and GPS cuts in and out.

I have mine wired up so everything comes forward, and the wires run down the passenger side of the windshield, like a standard windshield light bar. It's ok like this but doesn't look as clean and might be susceptible to snagging on branches. Not a concern for the desert guys but it's a problem in the thick woods of the SE where I live.

I think a much better approach is to bring the wires straight down the back below the rear lights. It gives you a longer run for the 40" up front, but will be a cleaner safer install. Also, make sure you run a large enough gauge wire. That run will probably end up needing 8 AWG or bigger, just due to length. I haven't run the numbers yet but it's a long ways from the back of the roof to the battery.

I mounted mine thru 3rd brake light with a 7 pin marine connector. Roof rack lights ( two 8.7" HID's, 30" bar and four 7" bars) are all wired to one side of marine connector which screws into other side on 3rd brake light.
I mounted overhead switches by glasses' holder and relay panel behind glove box.
Wires run under roof header.
