Just out of curiosity, have you disabled the fake engine noise? I would assume the truck was designed to cancel (and enhance) certain frequencies/noises at a specific RPM. By changing the exhaust, the truck could possibly be out of sync with the enhanced engine sound track and could be creating an illusion of drone, early up shifts and so on.

Yes, I did the Forscan mods, including disabling the fake engine noise...but thanks for the idea.

UPDATE 3/1:

I had my original Raptor exhaust system re-installed today and boxed up the Magnaflow. Took about an hour.

Now driving is completely back to "normal" - immediately regained all original shifting funtionality.

So, for those of you thinking about buying this system (or worse - already bought one) - BEWARE ! It was tough being one of the first guinea pigs, but hopefully I can help prevent anyone else going through this pain.

The loud drone was bad enough, but disruption of the shifting funtionality was the deal breaker.

I'm far from being an expert in the dynamics of all this, but seems to me that the open flow design of aftermarket systems disturbs the function of the system as a whole, particularly the shifting. [however my experience is limited to the Magnaflow system].

By the way, anyone want to buy a (slightly) used Magnaflow system?....:biggrin::biggrin:

My 14' Chevy 5.3L V8 acted really weird for a few hundred miles after installing a Corsa cat back system. Not to mention it trying to constantly lug around in 4cyl mode and then try to accelerate in 4cyl until you gave it enough throttle to drone like a **** for few seconds and then shift out of 4cyl. It was almost unbearable.

I've been around FRF quite a while, and I do not recall anyone with a GEN1 having shifting problems after having installed an aftermarket exhaust. What's the deal with the GEN2 that makes it so touchy?

It's an actual high performing twin turbo engine. Not just a big ass 6.2 litre naturally aspirated one. This is to be expected. Buy high quality parts and use high quality gas.

The early adopters are essentially beta testers. Except, unlike in most industries, they are actually also paying customers. Effectively, they are paying their own money to finish someone else's R&D. That's why the smart money is waiting until all the bugs are worked out. They are starting to figure that out. That's why they are so touchy. I'm talking about the owners. Not the trucks.

Nobody knows why the trucks are so touchy ;)

@BlackScab. It would certainty be expensive to ditch your new system over drone issues. You sound happy with the quality and exhaust note in general. Is it possible that the "true dual" exhaust systems are identical so they harmonize with each other at certain RPMs? Maybe Magnaflow overlooked this. Just a thought. Maybe have your exhaust guy weld in two Hemholtz resonators. There's a thread on that here but I was unable to find it. Hope it works out.
