Looking to get into a new truck I found a 2012 extended cab raptor with 30,000 miles on it. Or I'm thinking about getting a new f150 what is your opinion on it

typical forum question: what do you plan to do with it?
If you plan to wheel it hard, replace the suspension with stage 2/3 stuff and add boost and a cage I'd say go with the '12. But If you just want a bunch of new technology and can afford the higher price tag then go with the '17.

Yea the new truck is more expensive but I didn't know if it was a better route, I don't really want to get a base model, if I'm buying a truck I don't really want to get a base model

You'll likely have less of a depreciation hit with the Raptor. Test drive both and see what you like better. Or look up the features on the 17 and see if you can live without them

If you're going to use the Raptor for what it was designed for, get the Raptor. Otherwise, get something else.

I would go with the Raptor, assuming that the 2017 F150 is a Scab too.

If you are going to just drive it or occasionally take off road you have the best of both worlds with the Raptor.

Can not beat the width of the Raptor cab and standard luxury equipment, including awesome seats. It has already depreciated enough and holds steady market value versus a sticker shock of the new truck and equipment options to make it comparable to the Raptor. Also you will have a much bigger depreciation on the 2017 F150.

You do not need to cage anything. Unless you gonna become "Mad Max" and go jumping dunes in the desert. lol I think its a little too much for what you are intending to use it. Just drive it and enjoy it. The ride on these trucks is just awesome.

Factor in shock rebuilt or upgrade in another 20k miles on the Raptor.

Best of luck.
