whipple vs Roush I know 100 times

Are you sure the Whipple Stage 2 your guy has is the Optional 700+ HP Stage 2 with the 68mm TB, 60 lbs. injectors and the 3.25 pulley?
No internals upgrading needed, but I advise the oil pump gear upgrade.
There are different options for the Whipple Stage 2 even all the way down two 650 HP Stage 2.

Yup, 3.25 pulley.
Neither one of these guys has done the oil pump gears, and they're in a hp race. I'm waiting to see which one pops first.
On a side note, I was looking in to doing a max effort naturally aspirated build with the 6.2 and was truly saddened by ford's engineering on the heads. It's pretty much a lost cause without a set of 4v heads... you can make 100 hp more with an ls3, at 100 pounds less weight, for significantly less money.

It's just a matter of time with the Ford gears, they are just too hardened and do not take the shock load of a Supercharged engine and will start to fracture and explode.
The upgraded gears are engineered to be much more forgiving.
If they knew how many Raptors actually lost their engines because of the stock oil pump gears, they would do it.
Over the years I've been on the forum, I have seen about over 50 SC Raptors through post and PM's that I know of.
And it's $12.000 to $16,000 to replace the engine with a certified reconditioned engine from Ford.

Livernois's heads and cams is the only way to get 800+ HP with the Whipple.
The Roush blower won't work because it's already at it's limit with the Stage 2 kit.

If I was Running a PD blower setup that was not covered by a powertrain warranty I would be damn sure to get the gears. A few hundred for gears now or a $5k+ engine replacement later. Now if warranty is covering it not as big of a deal.

I know a guy with the stage 2 whipple, and a guy with the stage 2 roush.
On paper the whipple should have the advantage, but in reality the opposite is true. The roush comes on lower, and is just faster overall.
As has been mentioned, unless you go to forged internals and up the blower rpm enough to push the roush out of it's efficiency range, it's the better choice.
That one bolt on the throttle body is a real bitch with the roush though, lol !

I definitely trust your word on these two particular trucks but just wanted to point out that a sample size of 1 each isn't very large. I did a lot of research before I went with the whipple and the Roush trucks just don't seem to dyno anywhere near as high as whipple trucks. My own truck pulled 560 at the rear on a set of brand new Toyo MTs, which as you know are heavy as hell. And my truck wasn't even broken in at that point.

I do believe the Roush comes on a little earlier, being smaller, but I can also tell you when I lock my truck in 6th gear on the highway at low RPM and step on it, it builds plenty of boost and pulls like a freight train.

Curious if the gear failures are more on the roush's, whipples, or an even split ?
It would stand to reason that the roush would be more at risk as the compressor is using more hp to make x amount of power, especially as it's edged towards the outside of it's efficiency curve. As in the rotating assembly is seeing more load for a given rwhp due to the blower being less efficient.

You can pick up a factory short block pretty cheap lately. I've seen quite a few around the $1000 mark.

Roush seems to have a higher rate, but it's mainly do to the Roush Tune with harsher shifting and a slightly higher rpm range.

Not as many Whipple owners are pushing towards 700+ HP
It seems most are just happy with the 650 HP kit being it produces more power than the Stage 2 Roush.

So what can the motor be taken to with that stage 2 Whipple before you have to worry about upgrading anything other than the oil pump gears? Also, i cant find that package at any site...

Yeah some vendors are and were selling the 47 lbs. Injectors with the smaller SC pulley (3.250) and calling it a Stage 2.
Stage 2 Whipple requires the 60 lbs. at minimum.

Please give a call to Whipple for all your options and then call Livernois to get the facts direct from them about their 800 HP Whipple kit with Heads and Cams.

since I refuse to pay over MSRP on the 2017 TT raptor I am going to SC my 2014. something I didn't want to do before as that 10K could be used to buy 2017.
well here I am looking now. a few things I don't quite get maybe someone can help me out.
Roush has lower end power more TQ cost a few bucks less and needs to add a HE.
Whipple has more top end power higher hp and you can add on the HE upgrade cost a few bucks more.

assuming this is correct and I am only interested in the 0-90 mph range is the Roush for me?
I have American racing long tubes, banks CAI, forget name but a throttle body and sct tuner with 5 star tunes. do I want the Roush or am I missing something here?

Im going with this one I have ARH already. I will also get tune from 5 star most likely. I have not bought yet. but gonna happen real soon I just went to my dealer and the new raptor was 100K lmao its a truck. do you know what I can build for 100K a truck that will crush that raptor and money left over. but I still have hope people are not stupid and pay it. I will pay 65K even 70K if it has all the options
