All,

Just to comfirm I didn't miss anything I just went and triple checked. The only modes that allow you to engage 2wd are Normal, Sport and Baja. All other modes are 4wd only. When in 2wd, no matter the mode or if the vehicle is in park, drive or moving, the differential will not lock and you get the attached message. In normal, sport, and Baja mode you can lock the diff in 4A/4H without issue (note:Baja mode doesn't allow 4A, only 4H). I tried locking the diff in all modes (while in 4wd) the switching back to 2H manual, in each instance the locked diff disengaged. I also ran this whole procedure with and without traction control to see if that makes a difference.

Long story short, although there seems to be some doubt on my initial post (and even I thought I might be missing something), you are not able to lock the diff in 2wd at this time.

I kind of figured you tried it these ways but you never know. I wish I knew someone at Ford to ask.

Shouldn't the limited slip in front and AWD mode, not present in the G1, more than make up for it?

Seems a locked rear, in all but straight running, is less than desirable.

my 2012 has a torsen locker in the front, and it was standard.. (option on jen2)

Maybe you dont have much off road experience, but when you are turning, and accelerating, the inside tire will spin. you won't get all the traction, or oversteer you'd get with the locked rear in the loose stuff.

Ford must be worried about snapping axles with the added power. It was already an issue with the old ones. Seems like a computer programming issue. I hope someone can crack the code and fix this problem. I for one never use 4wd, mostly because the system blows, so I'm always in 2wd locked. Ford screwed the pooch on this one

Yes, One Wheel Spin Control. It will even do it with the front wheels when in 4wd.

Mine worked similar to a LS when going straight on gravel, on pavement it worked sometimes. But it didn't work while making a hard right hand turn taking off at a stop sign. When turning I'd get the 1 wheel peel and couldn't get moving when trying to beat oncoming traffic. That's why I ditched the peg leg w/e-locker on my 2011 and 2014 FX4's for a Truetrac LS. Unfortunately my Truetrac is for 34 spline axles and they probably won't make a Truetrac for 35 splines.

Some, but not a ton, certainly less than most on this site. I grew up driving in snow covered roads all winter, so I drive very well in less than ideal conditions.

I'm thinking you run this truck in 4A instead of 2H and if you need to lock the rear you lock it in 4A. Seems like it would work just fine to me.

But I've spent my career finding solutions, not problems. Seems a bit of that going on in this thread. (Dash of drama, I think, as well.) :)

this is not a special vehicle team anymore it's a ford performance vehicle, it's a production truck with fox shocks. I have not looked into it because I'm not looking or in need of a new truck yet but what is all the differences of fx, lariat, king ranch, limited and the raptor? when I bought the G1 I looked it had a bigger motor shocks locker that stay's on up to 100 and a few other thing's that made me pick the raptor, I did not know the hype until after I ordered it and thought I'd look for more info. that's when I found FRF and all changed with raptor run's and all the fun that came with this truck. I hope the G2 guy's find the same fun we did it's been awesome.
