Octane rating vs fuel consumption

Cool wonder what they looked like pre e-10?
All I know is I've used e-30 for over 10 years when my non flex fuel car craps out I'll look at the pump and see for my self what it looks like has 260k miles or so seeing your articles should be much longer befor the ethanol destroys it!

I agree with the above. I too see better mileage with the premium fuel. When my son puts gas in I can feel the truck is less peppy...(He almost always puts in regular).
15 to 17 mpg on premium; 14-15 mpg on regular....

I'm close to 65 years old, and every time I get in to my truck I'm determined to dive like my age suggests; but by the time the engine is warmed up I drive like I'm 18.
So, using my very consistent driving style , in none play driving mode:
87 = 11-12mpg; 91 = 13+mpg (no difference in play mode)
