Fox 3.0" settings with DSC and QAB adjusters

You still needs to remember that it might not be good in on road. I would drive with out sway bar just at off road events/trips. But it think it is worth of try to feel how you like it, i just don't know are the Fox stiff enough. Good thing is that here is lot of guy's that do know.


Well I fell like there's less body roll with the 3.0", although a lot of people say the opposite, maybe my stock shocks were a little "tired"...

I will test the sway bar removal for the next expedition in April, but i read several threads on FRF saying it wasn't so good for high speed offroad, and my purpose is to haul ass actually :lol2:

It's definitely better at high speed offroad without the sway bar.
You can hit braking bumps and whatnot off axis without totally losing steering.
You have to realize that their "high speed offroad" is actually high speed on a graded gravel road. I found the truck much more composed without the sway bar when running trails at high speed.

Take the sway bar off and learn how your truck handles without it. You will love it both on and off road. Great thread, gems are being thrown out.

Quick update :

I did copy the settings I could find on FRF, coming from RPG and also Huck...


Rear :
Blue tubes (long & short) : 4 turns from close so I guess it makes 16 clicks (1 click = 1/4 turn
Red Tubes : 1.5 turns from closed position (6clicks)

Front :
I also opened both High and low speed compression with the DSC upfront (they come from the factory in the middle range, that's 5 clicks, as the knobs have a 10 range clicks available). So i'm on 8 clicks from closed position, as I wanted something really soft.

After a test drive, it seems right, it's noticeably softer, but adds some more body roll and I felt the truck was harder to keep in a straight line in some "high speed" sections (80-90mph), but hey you can't have it all lol...

I'm gonna try to open the compression a little more for rear shocks as I feek it could be a little smoother, and stiffen the front also and see how it works...

So, even normal highway driving it has positive gains?

I personally like the way it handles without the swaybar. Granted there is more body roll. When you get used that the front end feels more predictable when cornering. Bigger shocks help compensate the roll.
I know Ford frowns on swaybar removal though. The last time a Ford tech saw my truck he made notes about it in my file. Oh well, they now have a reason to deny warranty for front suspension.

There is also potential personal liability if swaybar removal is the proven cause of an accident. The same could be said about pretty well all modifications.

Just set your settings in my rear shocks. I hope they are smoother now then yesterday, where I put
rebound: 8 turns (from - to + or closed to open)
Compression: mearly 6 turns (from - to +)

Hey @woutvc

If you'r only running rear 3.0" but still have stock front 2.5", I would say that the rear will feel definitely stiffer than before...Also, do you still have stock leaf springs ?

About adjusting, 8 turns for Rebound (fully open so) is too much IMO. Yet, you want to run as much rebound as possible so the shock can extend quickly after going over a compression, but you don't want too much rebound or you will have that loosy feeling of the rear bouncing all around...

For compression, I would let the slow speed compression (short tube) in the middle range so you don't blow through the travel on every small bumps. On the other side, I would open (softer) the High speed compression (long tube) to improve overall confort on small stuff...But I always had a hard time having some comfort on small bumps actually, so...

PS : Are you doing some testing with empty bed or loaded ?

@Fabien, I'm running an empty bed (besides a dual battery box and the spare tire).
The rear does feel stiffer indeed and even when braking, it's a lot better.

I'm still experimenting with the settings.
This morning I have set it to:
- red: 4 clicks from total close
- blue short: 14 clicks
- blue long: 12 clicks.

It has improved a lot the only issue now is on long put holes, you feel like a the suspension is working and then a back shock, it seems that the shock is holding the rebound and then clearing it.

I still got time enough to find the ideal setting.
So far I'm very pleased with the update.
Now I'm still waiting for the front shocks to arrive.
